-
Calm down guys...I still have one more day of deer season left! After that the bushytails are in trouble.....and the bunnies, I understand the season has been extended. I better fix up some more arrows.....
-
Im in let me know when and where....
-

Ditto.

I vote for somewhere different this year...Fullfilment Farms could be good? Or if anyone else has land, or access to land, or just knows of a good small game hunting area shout it out! I will travel.
Adam
-
Is this an open hunt, or members only? I'd love to get in on it, as the area I usually hunt is just chock full of pines - i.e. - no squirrels.
All the best,
Glenn

Every traditional archer/bowhunter is welcome.
Adam,
Fullfilment Farms sounds good to me. I missed the deer hunt there so this will be a good time for me to see it.
-
Well how about Jan. 26th at Fulfillment Farms? Adam we'll need info and directions. Unless there's another location that's more suitable to all.
-
It's a beutiful place, I only hunted there one day, I did not see a ton of skwerls but Paleface or Bigron were there longer than me...
-
Well, now that deer season is over I can think about the rodents. Actually I thought of this thread today in my deer stand. I didn't see any deer but I did see 3 grays and 6 fox squirrels. If I thought the landowner would allow I would invite you all west. Fulfillment Farms sounds like a good central location.
-
-
If anyone is interested in hunting on 500 acres near Mechanicsville loaded with tree rats my nephew has permission to hunt on is one possibility.
-
That sounds like a plan that could work Tom, I don't know about getting permission out at Fulfilment and Skwerl season ends in a few weeks.
-
Letme know if anyone else can make it and lets do it! Think tho that the small game is extended through Feb. Have to check on that.
We saw tons of squirrels the times we hunted the property this fall.
-
:bigsmyl: Sounds like a plan... Got any more details?
-
We could meet at the Sheetz(seem to be everywhere)right off the first exit of I95 AFTER 295-Northbound.Head east and at the first light take a left-gas station at left.
The property is abound 15 minutes from there. Mixed hardwoods with pine stands.Flats, gulleys and swamps. There is also grownup clearcut.
Hunting there this fall almost everywhere I was I saw lots of squirrels. Of course when deliberately after them is another story, but seriously we should have shots and maybe kill some.
Sat. January 26. Who's in???
-
So EXIT 86A onto Relocated Sliding Hill Road and a left onto Leadbetter Road?

What time?
-
I have to work.
-
Looks like I am Off that weekend. Come on Killy take a sick day. LOL
-
Ron, it isn't often that you are speechless. :readit:
How did you do that? I looked and you had posted, but had said nothing. I made a smatra$$ remark, and there are words in your post now. Take them away! They make me look stupid! :o
-
Ha., Timing is Everything. :bigsmyl: :wavey:
-
Are You Ready for some more Cubed Venison???
-
Now you cut that out!!
I have every other Saturday off. You guys nailed the one I don't. Gotta take leave in February to go hunt wabbits in NY, so I dasn't do it now.
Killdeer
-
Did you say "cubed venison"? :saywhat:
-
I gotta make out a leave slip. :bigsmyl:
-
YES, I have it ready and just have to get the onions sliced and the meat seasoned. :readit: :bigsmyl: MMMMmmmmmm I can taste it already. LOL Sure Hope you can make it.!!!

:clapper:
-
Rabbit goes until the end of Feb. but squirrel only goes to the end of Jan.
Cubed venison, mmmmm. Ron I got one of those grills like yours for Christmas this year so we should have plenty of grill space.
-
I can't get leave for Saturday.
I am going to waste away to nuttin' if i can't get cubed venison! :(
-
Chuck,
That would be right. The Sheetz is on the left as you get to the first light.
Kathy, will miss having your ucerbic(sp) wit along for the day-certainly your wit is better than my spelling.
So has the the time off and is coming? The more the merrier. All welcome!
-
I'm in, wouldn't miss it for the world. See you on the 26th.
Adam
-
I'm in Too... Hey Adam, I'll get the Morrison back from you then. I am looking forward to shooting her again. LOL
-
I know, I know it has been a while... she's just sooo nice to shoot :help:
-
Way too nice to give back, too! :archer:
-
See you the 26th, what time do you want to meet up?
-
Doh! What was I thinking? (Answer: I wasn't) I can't make it that weekend guys. That's the birthday party weekend for my twins. Sorry.
-
We'll miss you Chuck but family always is first in my book. Enjoy the twins!
-
:banghead: :(

Soon they'll be old enough to go on these things and hopefully it won't be a choice between the two. I was looking forward to that cube venison too.
Ron I didn't know you loaned out morrisons! Where do I sign up?
-
Any of you are welcome to try out my Morrisons. You just have to do it while I am present!
I learned a little something in all those years before you were born!
Killdeer :archer:

Talked to Chris last night and he is excited to share the property. Squirrels will be shot at on this one, connecting is another matter.
So far it looks like Ron, Adam,Chris and I are definitely hunting. Anyone else? All welcome. Its a large piece of property with lots of different cover.
Think potatoes/onions grilled will go with that cubed venison, Ron? Any other suggestions? Should be good eating and hunting. Early and mid afternoon seem to be when the squirrels are most active so mid day lunch/shooting will work well.
-
I'm sure that I can provide some refreshment...
-
Tom, sounds good... I am up for any extras to go with em. LOL I'll bring the grill, the venison and oil.
-
I just got back from the range, and ALL the critters are feeding! The squirrels were out right up to dark.
Killdeer
-
The stars and planets will have to align, I'll have to convince the missus' it's a good idea, and I'll have to get a bow built that won't break, but my eyebrow is raised and it'd be good to see some familiar faces. For whatever it's worth, count me tentatively in.
Clint
-
This should be a good one. Will miss you there,Killy.
Hope someone brings a camera, maybe for hero shots or maybe just to post some pics of the terrain-interesting to this big hills local.
-
Any wabbit sightings there Tom?
-
Might be able to make this shindig...what's the directions from the south? I work in M'ville, but live down near Dixie Bowmen...don't know the territory up there too well.
-
So how far is this place your hunting from Harpers Ferry, WV?
This Montana boy will be in harpers ferry for work and if its within reason maybe I can sneek away with the rental car.
-
I am guessing around a 3 hour drive depending on traffic... Hope You can make it. :wavey: :archer:
-
Daryl, Chuck posted a map with where we are meeting at a Sheetz. Check it out.
Clint- hope you can make it.
Adam, I haven't seen any rabbits there but there is alot of briars and a cutover that may hold some.
Chris killed a coon there this fall so carrying 1 BH might not be a bad idea either-think that coon, fox, squirrel and rabbit are still open.
-
TTT
-
Do we have a head count? There was a great turnout last year.
-
That's 'cause we got on the stick earlier and were able to apply for leave earlier.
Killdeer :knothead:
-

-

-
How does 7:30-8:00 sound? Squirel activity will depend on how cold it is, hope its a little warmer than it is here now. Icebound!!
Chris, will talk to Chris, my nephew, and get street names so there is no confusion. Will post when I find this out.
Head count for Ron-please.
-
Still hoping to make it, but won't know 'til next week; depends on my wife's work schedule. If she's off, then I'm in.
-
that time sounds great thanks for the help tom
-
Chuck's map on pg 2. is accurate with correct street names.
Jan.26 at the Sheetz @ 0730-0800 hrs. All welcome!

Hey guys, got a pm from BigRonHuntAlot about this. I'd love to come, but have promised the kids to go see the PBR in Johnson City, TN that day.

I'd like to see lots of pics too!
Ken

See you guys Sat.
-
Tom/Ron,
I have been on travel and just picked up on this thread. I will be there for the skwerl chasin' and arra flingin' fun. Do you need me to bring anything in particular? Is one arra enough or should I bring two? :saywhat:
-Mac
-
Have a blast everyone. My work has overtaken the weekend and I will miss another great hunt gathering. I thought self employment was supposed to allow me a little control?
Stay safe and skewer a skwerl!
-
Mac- if you think one is enough have at it!
BTW, I'll be in a maroon T100 with camper shell. Also will bring a target if anyone wants to fling a few during the lunch break.
One more and a wakeup-see you then.
-
I will bring my target also. Looking forward to it!
-
The meat is thawing and I will cube it tomorrow. Do you think 5 pounds of meat will be enough????? :readit:
Mac, I would bring atleast two arrows., LOL. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Ron
-
Ron, any kind of idea on how many are coming? Would think that might be enough meat. I will have a small weber grill so I can heat or cook also. Redblood is bringing some soft drinks, anything stronger is up to individuals.
Its about 15 this morning here-sure hope it warms up tomorrow on your side of the Ridge.
See you then.
-
Tom, the meat is cubed and ready, the grill has been fired up and tested and I have 24 halfs of deviled eggs to bring also. If that isnt enough we will have to cook some SKWERL. LOL
Our temperature here was 18 degrees this AM so it isnt much of a difference. I am bringing a buddy along and don't have an accurate head count. I am guessing 10 or so...???
-
Shouldn't you boys be asleep?
I know I have to get to bed early...so I can get to work in the morning!
Killdeer~ :knothead:
-
Nah Killy, Them FAT City Squirrels dont get to moving till around 8:30. We still have a couple of hours to mentally prepare. :p
Sure wish you could make it... See you at ATAR if not sooner. :readit: :wavey:
-
Whiiiiiiinnnnnnnee. :(
-
Good to meet Mac, Chris, and Mark at the squirrel hunt.Of course good to see Adam and Ron again as well. Squirrels were seen, a few shots taken and tons of stumps were killed.A little windy and cool but the chow was good and overall a good time, I believe, was had.
If anyone can post pics let me know and I will email several.
-
Dang!!!!! Missed it!!!!
-
Same to you Tom, It is always a pleasure. Maybe next year...
-
Anyone want to post a few pics? Have Ron and Redblood(Chris) at full draw. One of the brave few who endured good food and malt.
Let me know if anyone want to post.
-
How many showed up????
-
Total of 7, Tom. Could have used a few more, the wind in the morning didn't help. But no pies so sure you wouldn't have enjoyed it as much, lol.
-
No pics? :readit:
-
No pies.... No pics!!! Illy....But I'm sure for a few someone might have one.
Sure wish I could have gone. Really enjoy the great food and great guys. It's became one of the high lights of my year.
-
Sorry I missed this one but it sure was chilly here in the mountains. Kids had a great time at their party though.
-
Got some pics, just don't know how to post.
-
Tom, do you have a Webshots or Photobucket account? They are free.
That is Step One.
Killdeer
-
Or email them to me and I'll post em.
-
He will never be self sufficient as long as he can find an enabler, Chuck.
Killdeer
-
Sliced and diced on that one,Killy. Will have to work on it.
-
I'm sure BigRon took some pics and he knows how to post em. Well...?
-

That tree with the holly limb had two squirrels in it but being right under it I couldn't get a shot. The pic is fuzzy but one squirrel is poking his head out by the knot halfway up and the other one is on that skinny limb leading to the left, frustration at its best!
Maybe we can do it again next year!
-
What type was the biggest tree on the lot??
-
Believe its an oak, down by the swamp. It is really impressive in person. Dominates the surrounding trees.
-
Place looks sufficiently squirrely. Wish I could have made this one. How about a roll call? I recognize Tom, Adam, Ron, and Martin but not the other guys.
-
TOM! Ya did it!!
Good yob, mon!
Killdeer :clapper:
-
I am the guy in the last picture my name is chris. It was a great time. I had a ton of fun with all the guys. And saw 2 squirrels with adam but we couldn't get close enough for a shot. Thanks for posting the pictures Tom it was nice to show my wife.
-
Killy, actually my daughter and I did it together-she taught an old dog new tricks.Won't say I'm technology inclined but am trying.
Chris it was a pleasure and hope to meet up at one of those shoots we were talking about. Take care of that youngun now-must have a very understanding wife-a keeper for sure.
Rollcall: Ron, Martin,Chris,Mac, Adam, my nephew and host Chris and myself. Hope next year we have enough to cover the place thoroughly.
Killy-you have a special invite to keep it in mind for leave taking.
-
Thanks again Tom, looking forward to shooting with you again this year.
-
OK, when will it be held next year? I wanna get my leave slip in. :bigsmyl:
-
Killy,
If the economy stays like it is now we may have this place for awhile. Hopefully we will have another hunt next Jan. same time.
My nephew's father-in-law is trying to develop the land but it is a slow process-hopefully.
Will really be disappointed if they cut that tree down by the swamp-it is just fantastic!
