Bow season here in Ohio ends SuperBowl Sunday. Last year I killed an 8 point on the last hour of the last day. This season , I decided to get done early and killed a doe this past Thursday, the 24th.
It was 12 degrees and windy. This was the 4th deer through and she busted me drawing the bow. As I let go, she whirled toward me and I caught the last couple of ribs. She did not go far before lying down.
I eased out and waited until morning to recover her. It isnt one of our giant Ohio bucks, but I am always thrilled to kill a deer late in the season in less than ideal weather conditions. There is almost something spirtual about nearly freezing to death in order to kill a deer.
My trusty Lewis Hollow 3 piece did the trick once again!

Congrats. You are right, there is something about
cold weather, late season hunting. Enjoy!

Thanks again guys! I am having a little stew tonight and we made some jerky last night.
I'll say this much. I enjoy every kill alot more than I ever did when I hunted with a compound.
I must add this as well. That deer went to school with me the morning I found her. My students all wanted to take a trip to my car to see it.
Those poor inner city kids have been deprived!

I killed one myself the last weekend (Jan.5)of the season here in Texas. Of course it was 67 degrees at the time. Little different than what you experienced. Can't say enough about taking whitertails with traditional equipment. Congratulations to you and good luck in years ahead.
