Well I got my first buck this morning. I was in my stand around 6am, everything was coming alive. It was nice & fogie as the deer walked in to my area. I could just make out the shape of a deer. He stayed around for a good 1/2hr.. When it was light enuff to see that the deer was a buck I got up & ready. At that time I saw He was a 3 pointer. I was watching him, and He gave me a great broadside shoot, I had to take it. He took off up the hill from me & ran about 60yards or so. I sat in my treestand for about 15 minutes, then I got down to look for blood...BTW I did hear he crash
As at was looking & found the first signs of blood that got bigger every step I took.. I found my broken arrow that looked like a red shafted arrow, lots of blood.... As I was walking up the hill I saw he laying under my other treestand & 20yards from my groundblind...
This is my first buck with a trad bow & He is my trophy... :archer: :goldtooth: :jumper:

He may be small, But His BackStraps where great... I just wanted to shair this with my TradFamily...
P.S. Thanks to Terry's part on TRADGANG DVD... Your pointer worked great for me... Thanx Terry

Great job!! First one is the toughest. is that the entrance or exit hole in that shoulder? Congrats bretto
-
Congrats bro

Beautiful! Any deer with a bow is a trophy in my book. Well done!
From the location of the wound on his side I'd say you made a perfect shot.Is that entry or exit that we can see in the pic?
-
Thats where the arrow entered... My Ash 60-65# 27"BOP Deer killer arrow Had a Magnus Snuffer 160grn 3-Blade took out both lunges & the Heart... The other side on the exit hole was nothing but a bloody hole...

Well to tell the truth, I was hunting a bigger buck, I have seen 2 nice big 8 pointers & a great looking 10 pointer. at first I wasn't going to do anything other then watch this guy walk around. But when he turned broadside, this feeling come over me... I knew it was time to get ready for a shot. Time stood still, everything got dead quite, all I could see was the one hair just behind his left shoulder. I then remembered what Terry Green said in the Trad Gang.com's DVD "To me the most important aspect in shooting is proper alignment" That is the only thing that went through my mind till I loosed the arrow.
I was having a small problem with wanting to get out and hunt since I took a long shot at a DOE that I got, it got to me really bad.. A Big Thanks to everyone that did the TG DVD, But a Bigger Thanx to Terry.. Those words of Your's helped me out so must. I don't think any other site has as many great members like Trad Gang does.
Even tho my first buck with a long bow is small, & most rack hunters wouldn't think twice about shooting it, I'm just glad family like I have here Stands behind every downed animal a member gets. Well the Monkey is off may back ( took 2 years )and I know the next buck will be bigger & so will the memories. I wish the very best to all the members & the ones that aren't members that Hunt, fish & trap all over the World.GOD BLESS to all My Blood Brothers/Sisters
