Had the opportunity to do some hog huntin in the beautiful Cumberland mountains in Monterey Tennessee. Here are a few pictures taken during the hunt.
Notice the mud on the side of this boulder, the boars were using it as a scratching post.

This little fellow was very curious of what I was up to...

These looked promising so I decided to find a place to sit and wait...

I'm Fixin ta go choke me a REB. :banghead: :banghead:
Come on lettel Buddy on with it :jumper: :jumper:
-
With arrow nocked and ready I sat patiently
waiting to see what was coming from behind as the squeals and grunts were getting louder. The first group failed to make it to the wallow and headed of up the ridge to my right...
-
Then this sow worked towards me.

This was a good looking hog but my curiousity was killin me with what was still heading my way so I decided to wait and let her go by...
-
:scared:
-
And it turned out to be a good move ;) as they rest of the stragglers got closer I picked out one to pursue...
I managed to get close enough to take this picture but as I moved out from the cover to try and get a shot I was busted. :banghead: and up the hillside he went.
-
Great pics Rob.<><
-
I was able to get around the topside and into position a second time and waited for what seemed like forever when there was some noise and movement as the first group appeared but they were smaller and then He came out and I took the shot at 27 steps and hit a bit high and back from where I needed to but had arrow out of both sides as he rushed down the mountain and into a second group of hogs... Wish I could say it was an easy tracking job but it took several more arrows to anchor this boar. He was determined to get away but I was determined he wasnt. :readit: In all the excitement I failed to take pics of the arrows and blood trails but the meat is in the freezer.

Way to go Ron. Nice looking outfit there. Nice freezer and lodge. Did they do all the butchering for you? It looks like they've got a lot of pigs. Notice the understory is almost non-existant. I'd love to try those coastal porkers with you and Adam. I'll bring my surfboard too. :D Busy year for you this year.
-
Nice story and pics Ron - Gongratulations on the pork!
-
Thanks for all the Comments Guys. It was a Blast
Chuck, Yes, They do all the butchering and processing right there for a fee. $40 for gutting, skinning and quartering and $60 for processing, vacuum sealing and freezing, storing. Not bad if you live too far to do it yourself.
I had some sausage this morning for breakfast and it was Top Shelf. Looking forward to the Chops and Steaks.
We will have to get a game plan for the coastal porkers, your more than welcome to join us.
