-
Dave...thanks for everything you do for the kids!
Its the gift that keeps giving
-
Add me to the list and I am going to try and bring my father and a good friend of mine. How does the hunt work...do we need dogs or does everyone just pick a direction and go roaming? Any info to be able to share with the others would help out...thanks guys can't wait!
-
ICA, we have a little meeting at the beginning of the hunt and turn everyone loose...you can hunt in groups, with the guys with dogs or go roaming.
Last year we didn't have too many dogs, which is fine...the best way to hunt the park is a group and stomping brush!
It's a great time, we have a covered pavillion with outdoor fireplace, everyone brings a dish to pass and drinks for a buffet style lunch.
We have an "Iron Bunny" novelty shoot. The raffle is great, most everyone last year went home with something other than a full stomach, tired, and smiling from an awesome hunt!
-
Exact details will be updated on this thread early December... Remember this trad only..longbows, recurves , selfbows, ..... no compounds or guns of any kind...... must follow dnr rules...orange, small game license, etc.
Beagles are welcome and not a problem...but last year the guys outhunted the dogs....everyone will be in for a great time guaranteed!!!!!!
-
Bring lots of Money, I will donate a couple of Items....
How much do you think a 8x10 of my smiling face will get.... :scared: :knothead:
-
Thanks again Mike!!! I'll take that 8x10 if the frame is made from leather .... :biglaugh:

Hey, grew up on sheppardsville road..where centerline used to run through..I know where those bunnies are... :readit:
Shawn...
-
How much is a small game license for out of state? We have fam in Kalamazoo, might be able too swing it. :goldtooth:
-
How far from Kalamazoo is Dansville???
-
Jesse...we'd love to have ya.....Kalamazoo is a couple hours from st johns.... the 3 day non resident small game license is 30.00....or 15.00 if youre under 17 years old.
-
I will try and get myself and Mr. LaClair there!
-
Okie dokie I'll c iffen I can swing the trip.
-
Roger... It would be a pleasure to have the shrewhaven fellows there....2008 was a very successful event and i'm hoping 2009 will be the same..... The outdoor fireplace made it great for some of the folks that wanted to shoot the Bull instead of stomping bunnies..... Its all good and a great time!

-
Tried to make it last year but work got in the way. Not going to let that happen this year. Will keep enough ground venison set off to the side, have about 70lbs now but it goes fast at our house, to bring a JUMBO size pot of Venison Chili.
Mike

Mike...outstanding!!!!! We had a blast last year!
This is going to be the best yet!

-
Steve - Monday, lunch near Auburn Hills? We can grab Java and make bunny hunting plans.
-
Glad to see you guys planning the get Gregg out of the shop for a while!! He needs that, that man works way to hard!! I bugged him to join us last year but he said he was to busy. :readit:
-
Roger, I can do that.
Tim--you would not believe the schedule Gregg keeps; I actually think there are 3 of him!
-
I know what you mean Steve!! I dont know when that guy has time to sleep!!!
-
He works hard.
-
Your right Roger he does work hard to keep this addict and many others stocked with bows!!
-
I plan on being there for a few hours before work,...unless I am feeling good enough to hunt but too bad to work! Then I'll be there for the whole gig! ;)
-
2big...i think you might just have to get sick the day of feb 7th.
Roger, Steve0.... Java did get a pm from me..he just might need some encouraging from ya fellows....

-
Arwin, are you bringing your kids?
-
I'm bringing my daughter. My son is wild and would fit in better with the beagles,LOL!!!! I could picture him sounding off once he hit a bunny trail. :biglaugh: Unfortunatley he got my stubby genes and from what I remember that snow was pretty deep last year. Short legs would have a hard time through that stuff.
-

I think this one should be posted in the Dangerous Game forum  :saywhat:
LOL! I am still deciding on what to add to the raffle... will try to find some time over the new years holiday to come up with something.

TTT for some great Folks. I will be posting apic of the Knife that will be on the way in about a week or two. Rob I did not forget you bro. Watch the mailbox.<><

-
Been training!! :bigsmyl: Taking the Windwalker. We went out looking today but nothing was moving. Too much snow going on.
-
Well my son Sean will be shooting his T-Stick Mag,that's the only bow he shoots. As for me I can't decide. Probably show up with my Wesley Special and my PLV, but then again that's subject to change on a daily basis!
-
the MLA write up is great to help out the cause and help promote the stomp. And I really appreciate Matts help with the article. I do want to make it known that this is the "Michigan" Bunny Stomp and I'm just one of many that help get the ball rolling ..Jason (whitebuffalo) started the bunny hunts and made the iron rabbit etc.. , Drew had a huge impact on making signs and working with the dnr last year... Rob didnt hunt last year and stayed back and cooked for everyone to keep the food hot.... This whole event is about all the michigan fellows to come together donate, raise some cash for st judes, chase bunnies, and just have a great time to break up our long winters.. thanks to all of you for what you do.. and look forward to seeing you on feb 7th.
So what bows are ya bringin
--------------------

-
Steve, I reduced the weight on the donated Firefly/Braveheart stock bow from 58# to 53#. More guys may want to bid on it with the lower weight. Bloodwood and Osage riser with 1/4 sawn sycomore lamination's over actionboo core with semi gloss finish. Its a sweet looker. Jim @ Firefly Bows
-
This will be my first year.
I'm bringing my Griffin 43#er, and a few items for the auction. Duane
-
Jim...thank you so much for a veeeerrrrrry generous donation... I know how smooth your bows are and figured it would feel 5 pounds lighter anyway ;) I sure hope you can make it... Last year..Drew and Kevin were the only ones that could shoot good enought to smack a bunny.....
Duane..thanks for the donations and looking forward to meeting you!
I will be at the park and ride right off of the exit at 745am to meet any folks who want to follow to the park... its only 10 minutes straight east on price rd .. Drew and Kevin will be at the pavillion setting up the picnic tables and stoking the fire.... If you arrive late...just follow the bunny stomp signs to the pavillion and youll find us... exact details are on page 1 of this thread..
-
TTT Let the Games Begin
-
I'll be there with my son...
-
Jim thank you again for the Firefly!!!
Hmm, 64" I don't have one of those.. you guys had better load up your wallets!
For you guys that are new to the bunny stomp...no worries on if you don't know anyone, just come.
A few minutes into last year's stomp 3 of us who had never met before, each missed the same rabbit! You make friends fast laughing at the misses and doing high 5's!!
Speaking of that, Mr. luv2bowhunt...care for a friendly wager? Say $10 donation for who ever smacks the first rabbit????
Now which bow to bring...

-
Steve,
The birthday party is moved to Sunday, so I am BACK in for the STOMP!
I will still bring the little Snuffers to Kzoo...all the donations will probably be easier on you if you have them early. AND I found both packs.
Steve O
-
SteveO that is great!!!! Grab your buddies and bring them too.....what stick are ya bringin?

Being a Michigan event, I think it will be my Chameleon, but I my have a Bob Lee Dark Archer to try out by then too... :campfire:

Well, I finished the wing bone call (and lanyard). Steve, would you prefer I bring it to the hunt or hand it off to you at K'zoo? I can do either. I think I have two guys from club coming to the hunt besides me. Can't be sure, but they copied the info from the flier I posted at the club, so I guess, add 2 more to the count.

TTT Should be a great time!!

what dish you all bringing....im going to do shredded barbecue pork loin for sandwiches...and some of the wifes brownies...
-
Koegel's Vienna's hotdogs and buns and all the fixins.
-
Koegel's!! Only a guy from Flint would bring those that is awesome man!!!
-
I was going to ask you at Kzoo if there is a way to keep things hot or heat them up. I've got a killer buffalo chicken dip I'd like to bring, but if I have to do it in the Dutch Oven, that might make it too complicated to have any fun.
-
You guys are going to have a blast, what a raffle list you all put togather...
:wavey:
-
Steve, Usually people have some turkey fryers there or some small grills. I am not sure if that would work out for you. There is also a fire place in the pavillion so maybe putting it near there in a cast iron dutch oven may keep it warm enough.
-
Steve...we will have a couple turkey fryers hooked up to propane..just bring your dip in a pan and we'll heat it up.. If anyone else has a turkey fryer or small propane grill that would also help... Tim is right ....we will surely have a good fire going too!
-

Tim, We'll probably pick up some "Flint's Original" Coney Sauce too. Can't have a Koegel's without the sauce.
Oh, and I'll pack a couple of propane camp stoves also.

Oh man Rick!! You know how to make a guy really home sick. I have been out of Flint for 8 years now but every time I go back I have to go to Gillies for some coney dogs!!!

You guys are starting to make me hungry! Rick thanks for helping out with the stoves. Lets keep this menu rolling... what else we having?

Rick...we use both flu flus and regular arrows.....for tips... judos ,blunts, nutters, and hex heads are fine..... we just dont want any broadheads for everyones safety..and the dogs..
-
Yeah I've got to get some arrows fletched up for my son so I thought I'd check. I figure with the snow depth flu-flu's might be easier to find, that is if I miss the rabbit LOL.
-
yeah...i use bright feathers...pink....hopefully we'll lose some snow in the next couple weeks...
-
Rick..sometimes its a good idea to just spray paint the end of the shaft something bright too.... orange , pink , etc...anything that stands out in a snow bank.
-
Good idea! Gives me an excuse to buy more shafts!

Last year we saw a good number of bunnies...I hope we lose some of this snow this year... I jumped 9 yesterday around my place in Dansville .... but most of them were sitting tight to there holes with the deep snow... We'll give them hell reguardless!!
-
I made up 1/2 dozen flu flus last night. Hopefully one of them finds thier way to a bunny!! It would be great to loose some snow but we had quite a bit last year as well. Less than 2 weeks to go fellas!!!
-
Tim...did you make the spiral flu flus...?
-
Nope I made up some 6 fletch last night. I had some old green game getter shafts so I through some white wraps on the end and fletched them with white, black, and orange 4" uncut feathers and put hex heads on them. They look pretty sweet and should be just what the doctor ordered for some bunnies!!!
-
awesome
-
I would like to offer up a Cockapoo for the Bunny Hunt. It has a good nose...
It was my wifes Birthday and Anniversary present two years ago... When I see it, "Alls I see is a New Bow eating food"...

I want to give special thanks again to Drew, Tim , and Kevin for showing up early to get things rolling.. and to all the vendors and folks that donated raffle prizes for a great cause. We raised $1510.00 for the St Jude kids and had a ton of fun doing it. A big  to all that participated and joined the fun. I'm sure we had 50+ hunters today! The food was outstanding , Mikes (yellowdogs) chili is definitely award winning, and Terrys beer brats are still world famous! It was a pleasure to see some new faces as well as old friends. The rabbits were definitely few and far between this year.... we did have a few misses , but didnt see the numbers of rabbits that we saw last year. The MICHIGAN BUNNY STOMPERS definitely came out in full force and went after them. I would also like to thank all for contributing towards the raffle and making this trip in such an uncertain economy... THANKS AGAIN TO ALL AND GOD BLESS ...WE'LL SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!!!!!
-
What a great day! And who would have thought that the first rabbit out of the gate would have been such a small target and so quick! :biglaugh: He had moves like Barry Sanders! Right Steve??!!!
-
Awesome guys, makes for a pretty good day, doesn't it?  :archer:

Roger Norris, myself and one other stomper were standing on a little knoll ..when the first rabbit decided to head right for us... i thought maybe for a minute there this bunny didnt have a chance! He come strolling up to us at about 7 yds..1 miss, 2 misses, 3 misses and in the hole!! :biglaugh: great times!
(Roblifts) thanks again for helping out , and Jeff (AnnointedArcher) for a beautiful prayer!
-

First off thanks to everyone that showed up and donating prizes, you guys make the event special!
Special thanks to Steve, for doing most of the work...next year I'll have more time.
Big special Thanks to Jim Jones for the FireFly bow, that gave us some extra money for the kids!
Another special Thanks to Anointed Archer for a great prayer before lunch.
The food was amazing, hunting fun but tough (the way is should be).
Another big thanks to Terry and Kyle for helping set up, Tim & Kevin for their help, and Pops Fishell for outbidding Kevin on the bow.
I'm off as I'm sicker than sick..
-
Drew...thanks for hanging in there ! I knew you were feeling lousy.... and i also forgot that Terry and Kyle were there helping early..we really appreciated the help!!!!
Mike and Dave.... we appreciate you guys bringing the dogs and doing some scouting for us... It was definitely a tough day for the dogs with the windy , slushy conditions....
-
Awesome!!I can hardly wait for our turn
Nice job
-
Way to go boys! Looks like everyone had a great time! :clapper:
-
You guys did great for the kids!
-
I had a lot of fun and met a few guys from here on the gang. Food was great, and I plan on being there next year.
My dad had fun too, and said he's glad he came.
Zack
-
Zack,
it was a pleasure meeting you and your dad... looking forward to future hunts with you guys!!
-
Hi Guys, Thanks for all the kind words about the bow. Donating it was the least I could do help the KIDS. Kids, great memories and meeting new friends is what an event like this is all about.

I was planning on going...had my Ace Hex heads on my cedars and my new foam core bow ready to go. Also had some stuff to donate to the auction....Then Mother Nature changed my plans...I recently got a buffalo,... 600 lb's of meat on top of the four deer we already had in the freezer so I ran out of room. After I topped off my freezers at home, I had three big boxes of meat that had been riding around in the back of my truck...which was fine with the cold weather we've had lately. I was planning on taking it up to the farm to put in a freezer we have up there AFTER the rabbit hunt..but it got so warm so quick on Saturday the I had to head straight for the freezer... :(
On top of that it was my Daughters birthday and I wanted to spend some time with her.
Roger told me he would have gotten that rabbit but he forgot to turn the dial on his Shrew bow from "Scare" to "Kill"
Next year for sure... :archer:
-
Ron..thanks ...we missed ya... we'll see you next year for sure..hopefully the bunnies will cooperate more.....we had a great turn out! I think we all forgot to turn our dial to "kill"
:p
-
You guys did a great job for an even better cause, also looks like much fun was had by all. Hope to be able to make it next year.
-
Great stuff guys....great pics, and a great monetary donation to St Judes!!!
Congrats to all...and your efforts as well. :notworthy:
-
 :clapper: :clapper:

I think next year we should have the Opposum stomp instead. My dad and I ended up seeing 3 of them for the day. But we could not scare up a rabbit no matter how hard we tried!!
-
Tim....Opposums are fair game too! that works for me...What I like about this event is the time shared with all of our michigan bowhunting brothers and the outstanding food.. the chance to shoot so many beautiful bows and to watch the younger kids constantly shooting all day. Hunting rabbits and Opposums and walking in the great outdoors is icing on the cake. Anyone that doesnt make this hunt is really losing out! Over 1500.00 for st judes is just great!
-
Great job guys,,Great hunt,,JB

"Roger told me he would have gotten that rabbit but he forgot to turn the dial on his Shrew bow from "Scare" to "Kill"
It aint easy being me....
-
Who was it that took the group photo? Any chance of getting it posted here?
-
Rick ...it was kevin...i'm in the process of contacting him to have him post pics..
-
Yup, love those group photos with like 50-60 guys in them!! At our hunt we load like 60 people into 4 or 5 pick-ups and head to a spot, we get some looks but no one messes with us!! You guys look like ya had a blast!! OOOOOHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn
-
Kevin is really busy with work and family stuff so it might be a day or so before he will get a chance to post some pics. Be patient though I shot with him tonight and he is working on it.
-
good stuff fellas :notworthy:
-
Sorry for the delay fellas... I will have the pics posted tomorrow by late morning.
-
Ok, here are some pics of a great time!!! Thanks again to everyone who showed up, everyone who donated items to the raffle, and everyone who opened up their pockets for the kids

Man Kevin I am surprised your camera still works after that close up shot!!! :scared:
-
I know there was a hand full that didnt make the pic.... killinstuff (cj) came 3 hours from traverse city, mike (yellowdog) came from saginaw, and then of course Kevin (luv2bowhunt) was the photographer.
All of you Michigan fellows are what make this event happen! Thanks again for your support and I hope this continues to grow next year.. (who knows we may even kill a rabbit
;) ) Thanks again! Steve
-
Man why would we want to kill a rabbit!!! Then we would have to wash our hands before lunch!!!! :bigsmyl:
I think next year this should be the Michigan Traditional Pot Luck and Bow Shoot!!!
-
LOL!! That would work for me Tim! The food, raffle, and shooting the bull is the best part of the whole event... all that tromping around through that thick stuff is almost like work, I am used sitting my butt down all evening in a tree stand :D
-
Looks like a great time with a fine bunch of bowhunters. Way to go!
-
ttt..... if anyone catches this i picked up a smaller leather armguard that was left at the hunt...pm me if its yours!
-
Steve, Maybe that arm guard is raffle prize number 1 for next year!
-
the armguard belongs to "harmless" from fowlerville...i'll see that he gets it...
