So I was coming back from a Springsteen concert last night at 2:00 AM (My wife is a fan and the show was a couple hours away), and the last 30 miles or so, I LITERALLY COULD NOT get more than 100 or 200 yards without seeing a group of 2-8+ deer eating by the side of the road (except for a 2-mile stretch through town). For 30 miles straight! That's a LOT of deer!
Only a couple times were they actually IN the road, but I slowed down every time I saw a group in time, just in case.
Well, there were some non-hunting friends with us, and all the slow-and-go woke them up. The girl in the backseat (a vehemently uninformed, big-bambi-eyed, Disney-educated, "I know you like to hunt and venison and bear taste good but it's a shame you have to kill the pretty animals" type) actually said, and I quote:
"Oh, my God, I can't believe there's so many of them! Watch out, they're so dangerous! They need to open hunting season again right now, somebody's going to get killed!"
So try that next time you get sick of hearing all the "Aww, I LOVE animals, why do you have to kill them" sympathizing!

It's amazing what a heavy dose of reality will do to some people.

Charlie you said that with a woman in the back seat? She must not have been armed; or the back of your head would be hurting :)
I was hunting bean sprout eating woodchucks for an ANTI-HUNTER. She asked me because she knew if her equally anti neighbors heard a gun shot - she had some 'splainin' to do.
So this woodchuck came out of its den; and slowly worked into a shot for me after about 45 minutes. I was sitting in a chair; and finally shot; hitting it through the chest; but leaving the broadhead on one side and the fletch on the other - very dramatic- and the anti hunter cheered so loud it shocked me. Then she yelled out: " what took you so long to shoot!!!".
Irony can be sooo ironic!!
