Title: Sustainable wood?
Post by: Gnat on May 08, 2008, 01:05:00 AM
That's what she said.  ;)  No really...

I'm curious what you all know about the woods that make our bows.

Which woods are sustainably harvested and which are rippin down the rainforest in the tropics? Or is it more complicated than types of wood, but rather where or who you get them from?

Does this ever factor in to deciding what kind of bow you buy, or what it's made of?

This is one of those yeah but topics.  There are rainforeast varieties and we should protect the rainforests for sure, BUT, they are cutting them down anyway to grow corn etc.  Selling it off in their eyes is gravy.

I understand your argument, bowdude, but when you don't purchase bad wood, your money isn't going to folks who are doing the damage.

I say, always vote with your dollars.

unfortunately, in this day and age, it doesn't matter if you or I buy it or not... someone will.

Bamboo is a grass, not a tree and it is sustainable.
