Title: Lykke til i Norge!/Good luck in Norway!
Post by: eidsvolling on February 21, 2011, 07:28:00 AM
Just read that Norges Buejegersforbund ("the Norwegian Association of Bowhunters") has submitted an application for  a bowhunting pilot project (http://ut.no/artikkel/1.7516449)  to the Norwegian Directorate for Nature Management. Norway currently bans all forms of bowhunting, so bowhunters have to travel abroad to hunt. Hunting is allowed with firearms for many species of big game, small game and waterfowl.

The application has the support of four important national organizations - the Norwegian Farmers' Union, the Norwegian Forest Owners' Federation, the Norwegian Forestry Association, and the Norwegian Association of Hunters and Anglers.

Here's hoping it is approved!

Good luck. I think it might be a hard fight but if it passes it will be worth it.

Good to hear!!  Hope they are successful!  My wife has relations and connections to Norway and would like to go and work there for a few years, she works in the medical field and it could be a possiblity if she worked it right, anyways I've said No because of no bowhunting.  Sweden recenly allowed bowhunting for small deer, I think axis??

Skål/Cheers to that!

Though I must say I hope they regulate this thuroughly to start with.
We don't want no bloodbath and harmed animals!

In a country with under 5 million people, it does not take more than one bad newsprint of careless archers to topple the project.

-But good luck to those who will participate in the first hunts, and be responsible so that I may also in a couple of years enjoy hunting at home  :)
