i know we have alot of really pissed off hunters to find thier national refuges closed today on what would have been opening morning of the Arkansas bowseason on these refuges.... WOW this is a very big deal

Vote.
our Congress has one real job, to keep America running smoothly. In the past 40 years, we have had a budget on time only a handful of times.
Yup, it sucks, and I for the life of me can't figure why they have to close all the parks instead of just opening the gates and not having services available.

Well just found out that my week of annual leave has been cancelled due to this shut down or not get paid!!!! So much for hunting next week. Gotta love the Gov.
-
I have seen my rights as an american citizen and a sportsman attacked on every front the past 4 1/2 by this administration. Wake up people!!
-
Not the administration this time, folks. Look to the Congress.
-
The admin is as guilty as anyone else! We have a president who wants to rule rather than govern. His way or the highway. We have an absence of leadership at all levels of government.
-
to my knowledge at least 3 bills were sent to the senate to fund all phases of the government but excluding obamacare and the last bill to simply delay obamacare the senate/President rejected them all, refusing to accept any option of funding that did not include the health care act thus leading to the shut down
-
If the majority would have voted Republican we wouldn't be in this mess. I pay $100 more per MONTH now for health insurance than I did before Obama took office. Just got our quotes for the upcoming year and it increased again 9.23%. HUH! When his plan takes affect I will pay even more to keep my doctor and plan.
Great plan there Obama. I get to pay for someone that doesn't WANT to pay for themselves. We have a guy here we pay $13 p/hr to work in our warehouse. He COULD pay for insurance as we would pay over half of the cost for him. He spends more at the Moose Lodge every night that he goes there to drink. We have tried to get him on our health insurance but he will not do it. So I asked him if he gets in a car wreck does he expect to be kept alive and helped in a hospital? He wouldn't answer me. I then said, well you will be taken care of and I will have to bear that cost. I believe these are the majority of the kind of people I will have to pay for and I don't like it at all.
I don't mind at all to help folks that really CAN'T pay for the basic needs of a quality life, but until you weed out the loser ticks on the system I don't like it.
Sorry for the rant and thread jack but I feel better. Haha. Admins delete at your will.

If it's OUR National refuges, why do we need permission to hunt them?(just saying).
Or to put it another way, I'm not sure you can be trespassing on something you own and the season is open? Besides, they wouldn't even exist without sportsman contributions.
I highly doubt there is a law on the books that states, "no hunting on National wildlife refuges during government shutdowns". Wouldn't the guy that would put up the No Entry sign, not be working?
(The ones I have hunted on are guarded by Harvey, the 6 1/2' tall invisible white rabbit).
I don't want to even get started on whom I think is to blame for this...
-
TJ,
You hit the nail on the head brother. It's easier for them to put it off on us instead of dealing with it as they should. Those ticks you speak of are getting bad. Lol.......

I think most Trad Gangers would gladly vote for an amendment that would stop all benefits to both Congress and the Administration before any other government workers were laid off in the event of a shutdown. There is more than enough blame to go around.
We all know that is not going to happen, however, and the Trad Gang rules state this forum is to be a non-political one.

And once you get there, look up the idiot Tea Party members.

Can you guys at least walk in and hunt those areas?
-
Tarponnut has the right idea.... we pay for them SO how can they enforce it when they are not allowed to work anyhow. GO HUNT

EXACTLY!!!!

We don't own the parks and public hunting grounds our government does. Hence the locked gates. If you think we own them then go ahead and cut the chains and proceed to hunt and see what happens. We do however have the ability to put who we want in control of those gates.
-
A president and senate who would rather watch folks suffer than listen to the people. All done to "make it hurt" so el presidente can have his way. Thanks Barack

Those of us who work are funding an ever-growing dependent society. This is of course the federal plan. I fear we've reached the point where robbing from me to pay lazy Paul is now so far gone that there is no going back.
I've worked my way into the chump class. That surfer bum interviewed on TV a few weeks ago has it all figured out.
The federal government can shut down for good as far as I'm concerned.
TJ I respect your position about voting. I used to think it mattered too. Now people who don't pay attention until the day before an election flood the ballot box to keep their free ride moving.

well said TJ!

Well said Bowwild.

thats true, i didnt really mean to start this out as a political deal eventhough it was bound to head that way, i just have friends who have taken vacation and planned long and hard to hunt a local NWR to only find the gates locked at 5 am this morning... im sure its nationwide...
