Well I'm making progress in my shooting. Here are some pics of shots I made last night. That's 6 of 12 shots. I pulled the fliers which I knew were fliers from the release. :D They were all in a 12" circle though. Shots are at 15 yards.
The back end of my basement is not well lit and sometimes I don't always see where the arrow hits the target. But I knew I was getting some good shots in that set as the release felt good and I could hear the fletching rustling on arrow impact.
Also the tuning isn't quite right yet in that I've got some left kick in the nock end of the arrows - bare shafts or fletched. According to A&H Archery's tuning doc, my arrows may be a bit weak but I don't know for sure. Pittsley Predator RH 51@28 (drawing 29 1/4" so drawing little over 54#), Gold Tip 5575 29 1/2", and 125 grain field tips. Does that sound like I'm under spined?
Any way after a 20 year layoff with only 4-6 weeks of shooting I'm tickled to start seeing glimpses of my shooting of old. Also kinda surprised to see it so soon. Must be the bow. ;)

Frank definatly not "Under" spined. I shoot 3555 Gold tips out of my bows up to 56# and they shoot fine w/125gr tips. For my bows 51# down to 45# I had to add more point weight. I am surprised the 5575's work.
Great shooting but how do they group at 20 yards and have you tried checking with the Paper tune method?
I usually start with full length shafts and shoot through paper. I will cut down a little at a time till I get a bullet hole in the paper.

Thanks Bill.
The arrows came with the bow which I got off that big auction site. So they aren't the correct length for me and broadheads. I've got to get a test kit of the Gold Tips so I can get the correct spine and get better tuning.
I've shot at 20 yards but at that time I hadn't started to see my old form so no groups to compare to. Haven't done a paper tune yet. I was hoping A&H's tuning method would suffice. I haven't figured out the logistics of paper tuning yet.

Oh yeah just remembered. Other than the A&H tuning doc the other reason I was thinking I might be under spined with 5575 is that I've got a 3 Rivers cedar test kit. The only arrows in that kit that shoot without the tail kick are the 65-70# shafts. But I'm not sure of anything at this point.

Looks like some fine shooting.
I have the same lighting problem in my basement so I put a double headed halogen work light near my target and the arrow flight shows up good now.

thanks Gatekeeper. "halogen work light" - that's a good idea. Sounds like a hardware store road trip this weekend.
