Guys,
I need some help with a name...and a design for my blade stamp and business cards/website.
I had thought about calling it
Rayzorbak Custom Knives....not sure about the stamp or logo or anything...but my wife says I should go back to the drawing board on that one.
What do you think? If anyone can come up with something, and help me with the graphics part of it, I will make the chosen designer a knife.
How does that sound?

Sent you an email. Brock
-
Ray, I sent you a PM and here are some pics I found on the web. I think they need to be biting down on a big ole knife blade.

Ray,
Curtis had a cool outline of big boar head he used for 2nd Sweat Hunt shirts. Not sure if it's his design or someone else's but you could ask him.
-
I'm in! Here is my entry!

sounds good but I know that Razorbak is the name Myself and friend use to sell our leather goods and i tend to call my knives Razorbak Knives.
-
Ray, congrats on the new business venture. I seen the one knife on the other thread and it looks incredible, Do you have any pics of the other knives you have made??
-
How'bout "RayzorBlades" boomp b... b... boomp, boomp boomp!!
No not the 'rapsta
Shell (2cents)
-
How about "Sammich Slicers"
MOTO: If my blades will cut completely thru the sammiches I eat, they will cut ANYTHING you throw at them.
O.K............Now that I gave you the winning combo, when are you building my free knife?? LOL!!!
-
If for some CRAZY reason you don't like that one, how about "Wild Boar Blades" or "Custom Cutters"?
I actually really like Custom Cutters with two "C's" made to look like Hog cutters for your blade stamp and logo.
-
I like "Wild Boar Blades" !! That has a nice ring to it. You could do a simple side profile of a hog inside a circle as a stamp.
-
I was told that no matter what you do for a logo, to make certain that your own name is on the blade somewhere, so that it is instantly recognizable as your work.
-
"Hammond Hog Hackers"
-
Rayz Blaydz
-
RAYS-R-BLADES!><>
-
Along that same vein how about Rays-R-Back Custom Knives.

Correct.
-
It seems you have a thing for Elk!!... how about
Bugle blades
or
Wapiti custom knives
-
thanks for all the advice and ideas so far guys.
Keep them coming!
-
I thought "HAMMOND" sounded classy?
-
I'm with Dan. Hammond or Hammond knives or Hammond Blades or Hammond Cutlery. Kinda sounds provincial. Of course there's always Ray's pig-stickers, that has a country charm to it. Whatever you choose, good luck to you on this endeavor. Keep 'em sharp and keep 'em coming!

How about Woodstock Knife Works. or Savanna Blades

Hammond's Hunters

There's an old saying that if you're proud enough to make and sell the "...." - thing, then you should be proud enough to put your name on it.
Use your name.
Some day down the road, a person will be looking at one of your knives that says "Rays..... or Razor.....," etc. and not have a CLUE who made it!!
What's wrong with Ray Hammond Knives for a company name?
For a logo, put an "R" and an "H" back-to-back.
-
Maybe- "R-Hammond Customs"
Good luck deciding.
-
I'm gonna have to send mine back to ya just to get you to put your name on it!!! I want people to know who's knife that is.
Greg
-
got ya. Stickbowslim from NJ sent me a PM two days ago saying that same thing, Karl. I notice you, Lin Rhea, and others doing it that way.
I just might do it too. Not that I am even close to you guys in talent yet, but we'll work on that part.
-
Here are some more, more subtle. Just kind of going off everyone's ideas. I guess I should have used an apostrophe. Ooops!

I am in support of Skullworks, I like the top logo of the 3 you posted.
Very clean, could be incorporated into a business card, web page and should make for a very nice stamp on the blades.

Ok, I'm gonna make a knife for Skullworks, and Stickbowslim, Dan Masson and Karl Anderson are going to get some free cape buffalo horn scales to use on their knives (which are much better than mine) for their guidance.
Skull and Stickbowslim, send me an email with your contact information so I can them to you when finished, OK? [email protected]
Thanks everyone for your help.
Skullworks- could you change logo 1 please, to read RAY HAMMOND instead of RAY HAMMONDS? and send me in a high resolution format in an email so I can use for business cards and website?
Thank you very much.
-
Good for you Ray!

WHAT????? You didn't like Sammich Slicers???? LOL!!!
That is a sweet looking logo and an classy sounding name so long as the reader doesn't know who Ray Hammond is. HAHA!
Good luck in this venture. If your first one is any indication of the destination, it should be a heck of a ride, ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP!!!!
God Bless,
Brian

Ray I think you are make the right choose by putting your name on the knives. The logo looks great as well as the knife you posted.
I have not progressed to the point that I would sell a knife yet. I only have one that I made (a small skinner in an arm guard sheath), but gave all the rest away. The first question everyone asks is "why isn't your name on the knife?”
Not to upset anyone but here is my opinion on marking your knife. I hold this opinion to give honor to the craftsman and how he makes his knives. I feel if you forge your blades they should be stamped with your mark. Forging to me is the true art of knife making and the stamps should be reserved for them, where as if you make your blades via stock removal you should etch your mark.
-
Sorry but I disagree Chile. You still have to shape and know where to remove and manipulate the steel to make a blade. But thats my opinion!
-
Good choice Ray. Skull- again nice work on the logo.
Ray - Don't forget to post a pic of the knives....
-
Thanks for the compliments everyone and the knife Ray. I'll send the info Ray. I'll include several formats that should work fine for you.
-
Hey,skullworks, you do some nice artwork. You have some talent right there.
-
skullworks: Graphics Designer (as per his bio), and general nice chap (I can vouch for that because he generously sent me a fine materials gift.)
Ya done good for Ray,sw, and did your trade proud!
-
Yep...I do it for a living. Anyone need anything just shoot me a note and I'll do it as time allows. No problem at all!
-
(Tol' ya he was a nice chap!) :archer:
-
I'd sure look into the electro etchers Ray, I've seen some pretty incredible makers marks put on that way. Stamping is nice but tough if you've got much to put on the blade. Put that money you'd spend on a stamp on an etcher. Doug

RAYZRSHARP KUSTOM KNIVES
-
Doug, you have a point. Plus, if you are using blades that have already been hardened, it may be too hard for a stamp.
Dan
-
YA-Hoooooooooooooooooo.It's got a real good ring to it Ray....One other thought,Doug is right on about the etcher....You can do so much more with them.Like put your name on my knife or Dougs knife....Good job folks,I love it.....bowdoc
-
hey, Doc....good to see you again. Wish I was gonna be there to sample your fine camp vittles again this year at Quebec Bear Hunt.
Email me your number so I can call you, why don't ya?
-
Ray your mail box is full, Leftys on, if you would.
