Title: How About Showing Your Knives.....
Post by: Nala on July 11, 2008, 05:26:00 AM
Hey all,

Like most of you I LOVE knives.  I never tire of looking at pictures of great knives and bows.  There are several members here that make really beautiful knives that I would love to have someday.  I'm sure I'm not alone in that thought.

So how about posting some pictures of your favorite knives?  Do you have any custom knives you can show?  What about knives you made yourself?  Of course you can't forget the knives that ride on your hip when you go out in the woods.

So if ya gots any cweet knife pics how about posting them?  We want to see them.

Thanks for your time and help.

Nala

I just got this Hunter done and photographed. I twisted the billet pretty tight with a high layer count. The blade is 4 inches and the OAL is 8 1/2 inches. The guard and pins are Stainless and the handle is Desert Ironwood. Thanks, Lin

Well Lin, that one is impossible to top!
That said, here is one I finished last week, I didn't forge the damascus but cut it from a billet.
Mammoth tooth handles with dovetailed and pinned brass bolsters.

You fella's who make your own blades have all my respect.  I'd like to try some day when I have more time.  Until then, I'll keep making em using mostly Helle Blades.  Having a little Norwegian in my blood, they are the perfect fit.

Would like to post some pics, but am apparently too dumb to figure it out.  Help?

John

How do I know? Cause I was just like you till I read it...I couldnt figure it out.

Thanks for the tip Ray.  (Hopefully) here are a few I've made recently as gifts and for a banquet.  I love the Helle blades.  They are sharp as can be and low maintanence.

Small kneck knife for my buddy Gerry Zigmund.

Here's the tip end of a Springbuck antler I used to make another kneck knife.

I've made/put together many stone blade knives.
Here is the only steel blade knife I've ever done. Blade was purchased at Texasknife works.

John,
Those are some very nicely done Helle blade knives.

Thanks Mystickbow.  I've used Texas Knife Supplies a bunch too.  They are a good outfit.  Your knife with the stone handle is a real nice looking piece.  I have a hard time parting with them when complete.  Each one has it's own  personality.  Lot's of fun to make though.

Just realized you said stone blade.  At a quick glance I thought the handle was some type of stone!  That would make for a pretty weighty knife.  What type of wood is that?  Pretty cool grain.
