Title: I started 2 more today (finished pictures added)
Post by: woodsman1031 on August 10, 2008, 02:20:00 AM
This is a small skinner and what will be my 2nd friction folder. I cut them out of a 7 1/4" saw blade that I think is possibly carbon steel (a little bit of rust on it). I anealed them after I cut them out.

I have made a few full tangs out of stainless blades but never a carbon blade. Is ther anything I should know about epoxying or pinning with carbon steel?

Thanks     (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f138/woodsman1031/08-10-08_0104.jpg)

Hi Woodsman,   Epoxying and pinning of stainless or carbon is the same,  be sure to leave the mating surfaces rough and clean with acetone before assembly,  hope this helps.

I have finished the full tang. The scales are maple, I did a little file work on the back. The pics arent that great because I am using a camera phone.
