Title: draw weight
Post by: oberon on January 30, 2008, 04:29:00 PM
Is there a average as to the draw weight per inch of draw on a longbow.
Like for instance you have a longbow with an 80 pound draw at 28" and you draw 27" what are you drawing?
 Best regards,

I believe it is somewhere around 3 lbs per inch, but some more experience is needed to answer that correctly, not my feeble mind.

Under 28" a lot of bows only lose 2# per inch and gain 3# over depending on the design.

If you want to get any more precise, use a bow scale.

3#/in is a good average for 45-55# bows.  An 80# bow is going to be closer to 5#/in, IF its not stacking at all.

Do not have a bow scale , but the answers that have come through are good enough for me.  These answers fall in line with what I have been told before.  Just wished to confirm.
