Title: Found an old file - question.
Post by: EASTERNARCHER on October 11, 2014, 07:28:00 AM
Was out hunting yesterday. Came across an old homestead foundation in the woods. I knew it was there but never bothered messing with it much before.
I happened to kick some leaves out of the way and found an old file stick up out of the leaves. Not a rasp, but a large file. Has to be more than 50 years old as the place has been abandoned at least that long.

I brought it home hoping to make a knife from it.
So whats the best way to do this?
Can I just remove stock and sharpen? or does it need to be forged to shape?
Thanks.

One of the best in my opinion!
