This is my first off of my 2x72 grinder. I was very pleased at how much easier it is than my 1x30 and a file. I think my grinds are much better too. Still have a long way to go but I think I am headed in the right direction. The wood in the scales is mesquite burl given to me by the owner over a year ago. He does not know I am giving him this knife yet. I inlaid some man made turquoise in some of the voids but left the others for a more rustic look. Thanks for taking a look! Mike

Thanks guys! Brad, I'm too embarrassed to show my grinder. Thanks for your help though. Mine ended up kind of a hybrid of yours with some aluminum and a no weld grinder that my brother in law welded. It's definitely a Frankenstein grinder. I was able to keep it under $600 with the motor and vfd so I am quite pleased. I do have a question though. When the splice on my belts goes over the wheels the belt wanders a bit. Am I not aligned properly or are these just cheap belts? Thanks for any suggestions. Mike

Mike. A variable speed homemade grinder for 600 is something to be proud of. Some of my belt wonder a bit too. I attribute that mostly to the belts as some are right on in all speeds.
A coUple things that help tracking are 1. having all the center of the wheels on the same plane 2. Correct tension 3. The angle and alignment of the tracking mechanism itself.
