Title: Little Full Tang Knife (finished)
Post by: Lin Rhea on July 11, 2015, 08:32:00 PM
I'm working on this small hunter and thought I'd show a few progress pictures.

This is patterned after one of my small plasma cut blades. But this one is forged from a small piece of 1/4 X 1 inch 1084 steel X 2-3/4 long. That way it will end up thicker than the plasma cut blade.

This is the forged blade beside the plasma cut pattern.

Here is the rough ground blade. Its a bit thick to allow for the removal of material after heat treat and during finishing.

Here is the blade after heat treat and the logo etch. That handle material is jigged bone.

I should get it finished soon. Thanks.

Good looking little blade, I love the handle choice and how you left the jig marks. Pretty sweet!

Cool knife & sheath combo.

I need to try a hollow grind.

It sure looks like a hollow grind but it's a flat grind.   :campfire:

Beautiful knife, Lin.
Do you recall at which grit you finished?

Thanks     :campfire:

Karl, Trizac 100

This is a 65 which is finer than 100. They have their own system of grit sizes.
