Howdy, all. Here's a little bird and trout in a brute de forge style I forged from 3/8" W2 round stock. I forged completely to shape but had to touch up the edge radius and tang butt on the belt grinder. It's 6" in overall length, has a 2.5" blade, is 1/8" thick at the ricasso, and has a distal taper toward the tip and tang. I hand-sanded to 150 and followed it up with a Scotch-Brite pad. It's fitted with recessed Asian water buffalo horn scales affixed with piened brass pins and flared copper tubes. I added a hand-turned osage button to the the lanyard to function similar to the ring on a ringed bird and trout. I've got a lot of errant hammer blows on this one but it was a lot of fun to make. I learned on a lot on this little knife, but mostly what not to do!

OH, man. That looks really good. I really like the different components and how you got them all working together. Thanks for posting it.

I really like the way you finished that knife. It's rustic appearance gives it a lot personality. Well done!

I have never seen another knife or sheath like it! That to me is is a wonderful thing. It has been said there is nothing new in knife making!
Your design was "out of the Box" and I appreciate that! Very nice!

I like it Curt! You build cool stuff! I would gut my brook trout with that :)

I wasn't really happy with the previous sheath. It just seemed rather big and oversized for such a compact knife and I just didn't like the way it carried. I had a little free time last night and came up with this instead.

Very nice work. The sheath looks like it will be very secure.
-
Nice! A lot of thought and work went into that sheath!

If you can make a sheath like that in "a little free time", I can't imagine what you could make if you had a whole lot of free time to work on something! Very nice, it compliments the knife very well.

Thanks for sharing. Great work!
