Title: Just finshed (Merry Christmas to me) (w/sheath)
Post by: 92Fspc4 on December 18, 2015, 06:13:00 PM
Finished this one for me after I got a few Christmas presents out of the way.  So far I think its turned out the best of any I've made.  Feels good in the hand.  Gotta make a sheath now.  I'll post pics of it too when its finished.

Looking good.  Each one is better and better.  You've really been hammering them out!

Thank you.  I've made several here lately.  Mostly just for practice but they make good Christmas presents.  I think I've found a design I like now.  This is my favorite by far.

It's an addiction.  Every blade I make I think about new ways to improve.  Sometimes they are BIG and sometimes they are miniscule.  I am continuously looking to learn and improve and most of all having FUN doing it.

Good work!

Forged or stock removal?
What kind of handle material!

Thanks Steve,
Stock removal from a nicholson file.  I have a forge but I just use it for heat treating.  Not brave enough to try forging a blade yet.  The scales plywood that I finished with danish oil and a coat of paste wax.

I'm not even a spec of white on a pile of bird poop compared to the Eagles that soar and share in this forum... If us "regulars" and "part timers" start comparing ourselves against each other and the talent pool here, we will learn what true failure is instead of learning from these greats how to better our product. We all start somewhere and you have a great start. Keep up the work, go slow and make each piece better than the last. It will all fall into place.

You are right.  There is some great talent here.  I have leaned allot from reading the posts here.  It is great to have such a pool of knowledge to pull from.
