Title: Who got knife making supplies/tools for Christmas?
Post by: 92Fspc4 on December 25, 2015, 09:22:00 PM
I got a 1 x 30 belt grinder ,a very nice Arkansas wet stone, a roughed out knife blank my Grandpa started around 40 years ago and several old files.  Anyone else get some knife making stuff.

I got some wood for handle material.  I was pretty happy about that as it's one of the more expensive parts of knifemaking for me.

Oh I forgot I also got some old oak barn wood.  Might make neat handles.

Tried out the belt grinder today.  I'm impressed.  Got a blade shaped.  Its tempering now.  Will used it for handles tomorrow.  When I'm done I'll post pics of a combination of three presents (The blank Grandpa started, the barn wood for handles, and of course the grinder that did all the work).  Which belt grinder did you get FerretWYO?

A welder is on my list Lin.

Happy New Year everyone.

Not for Christmas but I did just place an order for some really bright handle material.  I am making a Damascus drop point for an 11 year old that is on the wrestling team I coach.  His family and I are really close and I had him help me with some of the work making it.  I told him when he got his first deer I would make him a knife and he got his first in November.  Kids like those really BRIGHT colors these days.
