Title: Finished liner lock
Post by: D.Ellis on February 14, 2016, 01:20:00 PM
Just finished this one up. Lots of room for improvement in design, but it functions well.
Comments and critique welcome.

specs:
-4 3/8" closed, 3 1/4 inch blade......my own hand pounded Damascus. 1084 and 15n20
-Orange peeled titanium liners.
-Micarta back spacer
-Stabilized maple burl scales

Thanks for looking,
Darcy   :campfire:

Very nice Darcy. I like where you put your mark. I admire that your not afraid to try new things, regardless how hard you have to work to get it done. Good stuff.

I love your work Darcy. This is no exception.

When I see your work, I see the unmistakable touch of the human hand.

Wow. Very nice. I find folders to be the coup de gras of talent and inspiration. I hope to one day build my own. You have got this dialed right in.

Critique??  I would prefer twist over straight layers in the Damascus to compliment your scales. Just a personal preference and one more Heat so not really a critique at all. Really impressive work.

Looks great Darcy, your work never fails to please. My suggestion is hammer out a few more. The basic design looks great and you'll figure out what and where to tweek as you go. They are just a little machine that has to be timed and tuned till your happy with them. Bet I took apart and put together my first one 200 times...    ;)

Thanks guys. It was suggested to me on bladeforums that I try a smaller thumb stud. I'm not sure why I never thought of that, especially since the last one I made was essentially the same, and I did use a smaller stud. Here it is with the update. I think it's an improvement.

I am planning some slip joints since I prefer traditional style folders over the modern stuff.......I'll keep y'all posted.
