Title: slip joint
Post by: D.Ellis on March 05, 2016, 12:54:00 PM
Just finished this one yesterday.
All comments and critique welcome as always.

My version of a Dogleg pattern.
3 inch blade......just under 3 7/8" closed.
Bronze and nickel silver with brown canvas micarta.
3/32" O-1 steel.....antique etched finish.
Pinned shield (the next one will be a more interesting shape)

Very cool Darcy. Slip joints are my favorite.

Really nice. What are you doing to get your antiqued etch on this and the antler scaled fixed blade recently posted?

I guess I am asking how far are you finishing the steel and what are you etching it in? I really like the look.

Thanks.
I hand sand to 400 grit, and then do the cold blue and bleach etch method, followed by a rub with 1500 and quick buff.
I think I did a demo of the etch method somewhere......I'll try and find it.
