Title: Stag Bowie
Post by: Lin Rhea on February 13, 2017, 02:17:00 PM
This Bowie has a 10 inch laddered W pattern welded blade. The handle is a nice piece of Sambar Stag. The fittings are forged and filed stainless. It will be on my table at the Art of Steel Custom Knife Show.

Mr. Rhea,

I have a question that always enter my head when viewing your knives, do you put an edge on them for the ones that you show?

They always appear to be unsharpened when viewing.

And they always appear to be Beautiful   :goldtooth:

Well, I don't think it will be on the table for long...

I really like how you do those stag handles. Outstanding as always.

Oh man. I was waiting to see that guard on the finished knife.

Makes me almost want to cancell my muzzleloader order and buy the knife. That piece of stag is wonderful too.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the kind words!

South MS Bowhunter, It is sharp. I sharpen before etch which explains the etch going all the way down to the edge. It is in new condition. In other words, after the next sharpening, it will have a very thin metallic line along the edge. That is to be expected. However, it is sharp. I sharpen my blades before any other part is installed. Yes, I work with it sharp and occasionally get cut. But that's the only way I can test the blade's cutting ability and heat treat and make any necessary corrections.

Lin,

Appreciate the reply. It is amazing to me how you and other craftsman take raw material and produce such finely refined creations

OK Lin, I have to ask.

The knurled spacer behind the guard is probably a separate piece, but I saw a closeup of that rope-carved piece behind that on Facebook. Was that filed from one piece, or is it three pieces.
? I sure couldn't see any separate pieces in the close-up.

Memorex or real   :)
