The blade is 4-5/8 inch. The steel is W2 forged from 3/8 X 2 X 3-3/4 I had plenty of steel in that piece to work with.
The other parts are Sambar stag and the pins.
Pictures are jumbled.

I really like this one, very creative and very awesome!
-
Lin, I really like how you have incorporated the stag scales into your handle design. It is not an easy thing to do, but that is why you are a master blade smith.

Thank you guys.
It's kind of like having a Tiger by the tail. Once you get started and are committed, you have to figure out HOW you're going to make it work. :)

Lin,
Very cool looking knife. I've always wanted to forge out an integral...had the pleasure of seeing Burt Foster demo that process at the Haywood Hammer-In this spring with a piece of round stock. Lot of work getting everything lined up. I was lucky enough to get his unfinished blade as a template. Thought you might like to see it...Jeff

Lin,
You are so innovative and fresh in your approach to forging and finish work. I love to see what you come up with next!
How was your April class in Maine? Wish I could have attended.

The class went well Steve. I'll try to show some pictures.

Lin, that's a very interesting approach, love it.
I recently attended a two day class with Burt Foster at his shop, I forged two Integrals and learned about his San Mai. Great time.
I hope to share some time with you in a learning environment in the future.
Have a great Blade Show
