So a while back I tried my hand at forging a San-Mai blade and wasn't happy with my results. After a few more less than satisfactory attempts, I decided to shoot Mr. Karl Anderson an email with the questions I had.
He could tell exactly what I was doing by the photos I sent and really helped me refine my forge welding procedure.

Dude - you nailed it. Awesome transition/migration zones. That's what I like to see and what I shoot for.
Far too many guys get the weld and then call it done.
You spent a good time in the forge letting everything become "one".
That's a knife I could trust.
