My first harvest of 2008 was the red fox below. I was out hunting whitetail deer after work in a ladder stand mostly just to be out...not figuring I would have a good chance to see a deer. Along comes this fox passing by and I started squeeling on my hand and he came towards my stand like he was on a string. First shot at about 25 yards went through the middle of the fox. Finished him off with a shot through the shoulders. This guy is getting mounted on a rock and will be given to my sister. I have been out calling fox in February and haven't gotten anything to come into my calls. I'd rather be lucky than goood ;) . Also, was very blessed to kill another fox before this one in November. These are the only two I ever was able to get with the stickbow.
Gear: Fedora 560 T/D 53# @ 28", Beeman MFX 400 arrows, 145 grain Snufers with 100 grain steel inserts, 5" shild cut feathers.

Here is the fox I harvested in November with the same set up at 10 yards. Also called in with squealing on the back of my hand after he passed out of range. This one is a female...the one above a male. This one actually bit the carbon arrow in half after it pinned her to the ground...

Congrats! Those are some good looking animals. Those snuffers sure did a job

I've been lucky enough to shoot 1 fox.The shot was about 3 yards from the ladder stand I was in.Pinned it to the ground and it jumped up pulling itself off the arrow.Then was unlucky in not being able to find it.Tried and tried,but could not locate that little guy.Looked like a good shot,but apparently the fur is too thick for them to leave much of a blood trail.I was really bummed about that.That was the first,and only to this date,critter that I have not recovered in 20 years.......since my first bow shot deer in 1987 that I didn't recover.

Thanks guys...it was just luck on my part. I decided this fox thing was pretty fun so I got some calls and a light and headed out in the dark after archery season...never was able to call anything in when I set out to do it. Just goes to show I'd rather be lucky than good. Seems like luck runs in spirts then dryspells don't it. ;) .
Sure wouldn't mind adding a gray fox if I get back up to NY to hunt this year or a yote...I can dream :biglaugh: .

Beautiful bow!The close up pics really show the grain.Couldn't tell too well in the other pics.I think Foxy Lady really fits in more ways than one.

Before this year you couldn't shoot a red fox in Oklahoma b/c they were protected. Now you can, but I've never seen one in the daylight. Every now and then when driving at night I will see one, but they just aren't that common around here. Cool trophies!

I've never been to Oklahoma but I get the idea that you guys have a good population of yotes. Yotes just love to eat red fox. Probably why their numbers are lower in part and the need for the protection. SLOGAN; Kill a yote...save a red fox! :jumper: . Gray fox can climb trees so they fare much better where there are yotes.

I've been putting out my deer camera a lot and with all the red fox urine, lure, etc. I haven't been able to find a red all winter. Well...I just picked up the camera today and think I just figured out why...first yote I have ever seen in my area and his gut looks like he has been enjoying the local red fox population :banghead: . I'd love to introduce him to a snuffer someday ;) or some Hevi-Shot Dead Coyote.

Wednesday night. 1215 am, I am walking down my stairs into my basement. I cannot sleep so I am heading to my computer. As I hit the bottom stair I look to the right. Through the window I can see the my back yard. I see this animal slowly walking along my septic mound looking at my chicken coop. It is a fox. MAN I WANTED TO LET AN ARROW FLY THEN. But me being the law abiding and ethical hunter I did not!!!!!
