Title: Samicks or Internatures ?
Post by: iowa mike on February 25, 2008, 02:34:00 PM
I realize that I'm getting older an dumber but I see a lot of these cheaper recurves in magazines for sale. I also noticed that quite a few target archers use these bows. Being old school and still believing that you usually get what you pay for, are they as bad as they are cheap, or  are they a decent value for their cost? I,m wanting a new carp killer. I've just been back into traditional for a short while and do not know anyone that owns one. Or would a guy be better off just buying a P.S.E.Coyote for bowfishing?

Samick, Greatree, Internature,PSE recurves, etc many bows with the same Korean maufacturer. I wish I had bought the PSE kingfisher instead of a higher priced Samick. The PSE coyote has a very low brace height around 6", and I like 7 to 8". PSE Coyotes are often listed used in the classsifieds, so don't buy a new one. The Quinn Stringray is a step up, about $190, and was the bow I replaced my Samick with. Nice folks, nicely made bow- very happy with my Quinn.

Quinn bows are dollar for dollar the best bow made.Quinns would be a much better choice than Samick.

I bought a Samick Talon last year. It was noisy and fat in my hand. Sanded down the grip and fiddled with it. Now it suits me and the price was right. I like it now as much as I did my old Hit Huntsman.

My luck with Samick has been very good, and I find most of their bows shoot very well indeed.
Here's my Verna and it will shoot with bows that cost hundreds more.

My wife and I both have Internature take down target bows, and I find them to be nice shooters, relatively easy to set up/tune, and since it's a target bow, you can work on perfect form (38#@29.5").  they break down into a small package, are convenient to travel with, and aren't going to break the bank!  they also have an insert for a stabilizer, so they should accept a reel setup in it's place.
