I returned home today to a blizzard-in-progress and 4 foot high snowdrifts in my front yard. What a departure from the warm spring days my 5-yr-old son Connor and I recently enjoyed in Ft. Stockton, TX, where we have been chasing javelina with a longbow.
We hunted with fellow TradGanger "Centaur" aka Pat. It was a pleasure to share hunting stories with Pat, and I particularly enjoyed our afternoon stumping excursion for prickly pear cactus, cholla cactus skeletons, etc.
What I will cherish most from this hunt however, was that my son Connor got to share the experience with me.
Here are just a few moments that I'd like to share with you:

Looking south from the ranch house we stayed in.

One of many quail that kept us company while we sat in ambush of our quarry.

Yeah, it doesn't take long to learn to avoid this.

My son Connor... bundled up as per Mom's orders.

Great post, Josh! Looks like your little buddy had a big time! Good on you for being smart enough to take him on the adventure rather than waiting for him to "get older." :notworthy:

Josh,
Glad that you and Connor had success. I hope Connor didn't weight down your vehicle with too many rocks! That snuffer definitely did the trick. Reminds me of the Beatles song "piggies"...."In their lives there's something lacking, what they need's a damn good whacking".
Stay safe out there,
Pat

Great pic's. Looks like you had a wonderful time with your son, something you will remember forever. Thanks for sharing....

Great photos. Texas is such a diverse state for terrain. It's one of the reasons I like living and bowhunting in Texas.
-
Way to go dad. I applaud you for involving him at an early age. I did the same thing.
-
Javelina's where put here to be hunted with a longbow! way to go great pic's.
-
Thanks for sharing. Mind sharing where you hunted? My buddies and I hunted a Ranch just south of Fort Stockton in mid Feb this year and we got into javies three out of 5 days of hunting.
-
Roger,
We hunted with Ken Burton of Burton Enterprises. The ranch we hunted was about 12 miles south and 6 miles west of Ft. Stockton.
We saw javies every day we were there. It was a fun place to hunt.

awesome great job!

Spectacular! I want some of those javelinas over here in KY.
BTW, I still have those 3 flu flu arrows you gave me, Josh. Still good as new. Been shooting some aerial disks with my son and using those flu flus. They work great.
Hope your snow doesn't make it out here!
