The first thing you need to do is go to IMGUR.Com and register. Then....follow the following:

(http://i.imgur.com/QJcoyGk.png)
(http://i.imgur.com/aNjauDm.png)
(http://i.imgur.com/kLL3evC.png)
5. Imgur confirms your choice.
(http://i.imgur.com/z77QS6z.jpg)
6. Move your pointer into the photo and the Imgur “copy bar” option will
appear. Then move your pointer onto the down arrow image and a drop-
down menu appears, giving you the option to choose “get Share Links”
to find photo link you must paste into your forum listing.

Thanks for posting this. I need the help.

Brian,
If you have any trouble, give me a shout! I can talk you through it.
Not difficult if you know the steps....
Please let me know when you succeed!! :thumbsup:

Thanks, Tony.

I have had trouble with this as well, thanks. lets test it out.

Awesome, thanks!
-
Seriously, anyone can do this!
-
Not seeing any of the screens you've posted when I open the
Imgur app on my iPhone 7?????
-
I have posted all of my pix on my PC (Windows 10).
This afternoon I will try to figure out the mobile process. I have an Android phone tho...
-
PC, iPhone, Android all have apps that are specific to the os you are using. There are seemingly simple "how-to's" on the net. Gonna give it a shot with android now
-
Tony, I've always been with PhotoBucket, originally it was free. It was easy, worked well, and I loved it. I used to post for many others over the years, who couldn't seem to get it. A few years back they made it w/ an annual fee. Ever since then, it seems they have so many glitches and problems (for many users) and are hard to communicate with, so it has lost some of the "glow". So now I am looking for a new "place". I just went and registered with imgur but once I did that, & made a comment about myself, as they requested - I'll be darned if I can figure (or see) what I am supposed to do next to upload pics and start using it as I do PB. No rush (your help with the St. Jude entries are more important right now) but later when you have time - LOL - how about helping me with that? (It is free like PB used to be isn't it?) :confused: (I guess they are all easy - once one gets used to them - LOL)
-
Bernie,
When the dust clears from the auction frenzy we'll give it a go....
-
Yep, Tony - That'll work. In the meantime I will try to get back now and then and read some of their "Halp" bits. Perhaps I'm just not as sharp as I used to be (good bet - LOL).
Love that your idea to help folks post for the St. Jude Auction is bearing fruit - FOR THE KIDS!
-
I did figure out how to upload a pic and put it in an album (on imgur), then uploaded another but haven't figured how to move it to the album - LOL - enough brain work for one day.
Keep up the good work/help, Tony - :jumper:

I'm having trouble posting from my android phone for some reason. I can resize from my computer but not from my phone? Any advise?
-
As of today I still am having no luck with IMGUR Android.
As I follow the seemingly simple instructions, at the end of the exercise my phone displays a swirling icon (thinking?). It never completes the process.
-
I tried it but the picture will not come up, only the image numbers from my iPad.
-
Well it's bitter sweet that I'm not the only one.
I don't care really....id rather have to post pics through imgur on my pc then mess with Poop Bucket one more moment...

My workaround for this android issue is simple but seemingly unnecessary work: I just email the image to myself and pick it off the email on my laptop.

Still practicing using Imgur...

This is so much easier to use than the other method.
-
Lets try this and see if I can post a picture from IMGUR.
(http://i.imgur.com/xGsXmRQ.jpg)
Easy enough on my PC, next is to try from my iphone and if I can figure that out I will be set.
-
Lets try from iphone now.

Hmm more experimenting required here to get the picture instead of just a link.

you just needed to add the image syntax code, and remove the "s" from "https" and make it "http" ...

Lets try iphone from the mobile app now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOTE FROM ADMIN - please do not post images from secure servers. you can tell that a link is secure because it will begin with "https" and not "http" ... just remove the "s" and leave it as "http" and it will post fine.
not this ...
[IMG]https://i.imgur.com/xGsXmRQ.jpg[/IMG]
instead, remove the "s" like this ...
[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/xGsXmRQ.jpg[/IMG]
and yer image will look fine, like this ...
Wow...that deer grew up in a hurry!
apparently you're gonna need to adjust settings a bit when you post from your phon
-
That worked but the pic is huge, let me see if I can figure out what Rob is telling me.
(http://i.imgur.com/xGsXmRQ.jpg)
-
Thanks Rob, I think I have it figured out now. Not as easy as copying and pasting a BBCode like on a PC but much better than the other site.
-
Great!
I learned something too...
-
you got it, ken!
we are working on a new house for trad gang. it has been an ordeal that has spanned nearly a decade, but we've finally got a better shot of accomplishing this now. not foolproof, extremely difficult, but necessary. the new house will allow uploading of images direct from yer computer or phone or tablet or whatever. at this point, we're in the infancy of new forum software migration testing modes. it'll be at least a few months before an actual live conversion will take place. thank you for your continued patience.
-
I have been following along waiting on the upgrade. I rarely posted images before because I mostly operate from my phone and posting images with Photobucket from a PC was difficult because I had to first upload them from phone to PC then post to the forum. Their mobile app was almost impossible. Thanks for everything and looking forward to the upgrade.
that's not an image link, it's a link to a page with an image on it ...
this is your image link ...
now we add the (http:// ) image code syntax...
and there ya have it ...
-
Thanks Rob. I might have it.
Are these sizes ok or is there a way to resize.
-
no need to resize really huge images, trad gang will do that for ya - automatically resized to 640 wide, with a proportional length. images on secure servers will not resize, however!
-
Posted using Imgur Android. WAY TOO BUSY and upload unreliable.
PC is the ticket if you will do a lot of posting.
This doesn't work on my Droid .
I can only pull a link to a picture , that's the only option it offers me .
It will let me message a picture to another phone but no way to post a picture .
Same here...
It might not be difficult to use once you do it, but I downloaded imgur app and I couldn't figure it out and I'm usually pretty good with technology
Just follow the few simple steps....easy!
This is becoming one of my favorite threads. There may not be rhyme or reason for all of them but it sure has lots of nice pictures!
-
you have the slash going in the wrong direction, not this ...
[IMG]http://imgur.com/gallery/c9Hg4[\\IMG]
... but should be this ...
[IMG]http://imgur.com/gallery/c9Hg4[/IMG]
... but more importantly, it's a link. image code typically ends in .jpg or any other image code type.
you ae trying to post an image GALLERY and not a specific image, that will not work ...
[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/gallery/s9OzY[/IMG]
the above is is your image gallery, it's a LINK to a page of images, not an image.
on that image gallery is an actual image and you can copy it's image address by simply right clicking on the image, select "Copy Image Location", and then past that location in your post ...
https://i.imgur.com/yIUZcFb.jpg
... then just remove the "s" from "https" and add in the image sytnax ...
[img]http://i.imgur.com/yIUZcFb.jpg[/img]
and here is the image ...
I find my photos take a very long time to load. Do you know if I need to resize them for the forum? I have just signed up for Dropbox to get my images hosted once and for all. Its a $13 a month service.
-
Thanks, I am now ready to post images again
-
Hi, I tried Imgur and I must say I could not deal with it. I rather pay for a service and know I have rights. I can use Dropbox for work as well as other forums. I got 1 TB storage so I am going to transfer and delete my account with Photobucket.
Thank for your help.
-
dropbox has its own internal image code that trad gang can't interpret.
use www.imgur.com (http://www.imgur.com) instead of drop box and all will be just fine.
-
(https://i.imgur.com/Yk9gOLj.jpg?1)
Having a heck of a time resizing pics. Every time I change one side of the little box and hit apply it changes both numbers. Got kinda lucky on this one somehow.
-
(https://i.imgur.com/4jxtPpp.jpg?2)
-
you do NOT have to resize images, trad gang will do that *UNLESS* the image address begins with "https" - that stands for a "secure server" and we can't resize those images.
HOWEVER, when you paste in the image address, and you see it begins with "https", simply correct that to "http" by removing the "s", it's that easy.
NOTE: trad gang will only resize images that are wider than 640 - we do NOT resize TALL images, there is no need for that as our only concern is with the WIDTH of an image.
-
Okay thanks, Rob. That's what I did with that last one. The other one let me resize it in imgur but posted smaller than I thought it would.
-
there's no need to resize images unless you want to for your own use. leave 'em big, it's really OK.
for my personal use, i resize most images to 1024 wide, sometimes smaller to 800 wide. this is just easier to deal with on my computer - i have no need for images that are thousands of pixels wide, who could even look at them, they're 5 to 10 times wider than the screen they're viewd on.
the only problem with trad gang resizing is if the image address begins with "https", which just needs to get changed to "http" before posting.
*HOPEFULLY* (please please, dear God!) all this imaging craziness will be put to bed once the new forum software is effected (hopefully this year, there are SO many damn hurdles to get over with the damn conversion!).
-
Looking forward to the upgrades, you guys rock!
I figured out how to get the link from imgur on my galaxy phone to post pics here; don't use the imgur app ! Just open a new tab on your phone,
navigate to imgur.com,
log-in,
tap on the horizontal lines on the left of the screen and in the drop down tap Images,
Your images should appear.
Tap the image you want a link for,
Up near the top a drop down of link types appears,
Select bbcode, the link shown for it, it has IMG at the beginning.
Select and copy the entire link.
Then paste into your post.
Hope it works for you.
