finally my first trad kill ever! i finally feel like a trad bowhunter. date 6/18/2010 time 5:06 pm,bow was a browning wasp 45# @28, ams fishing reel 29inche fibeglass arrow tipped off with a muzzy gar easy release. i was bowfishing a little creek in sand springs i like to call the "honey hole" i have pulled a couple of carp and a snake out of it before. this week had been filled with so the core decided to flood the river. naturally this little honey hole of mine fills up fast. i had been there about an hour walking up in down the creek looking for gar to surface and checking the weeds for carp. i started to make my way back to the truck i decided to camp out on a large lump of rocks and thought i might see something. a cople of gar rolled a few times way to far to shoot.after about thirty minutes or so i looked down in front of me and BOOM! there was before i knew it i had my arrow fling in his direction. slam splash and a russel in the mudd there it was my trophy in all its glory. i do believe i can call my self a traditional bowhunter now...or at least a traditional bowfishing man.

Congrats! The first is always great and you'll never forget it. My first was a rabid Racoon that was at one my Koi Pounds, that I had in my yard then.
(I clutched on my first shot and put the arrow over his back and through the side of the pond - :o :D - 2nd and 3rd shots nailed him though, and the animal patroll guy came and collected him for testing - positive rabies.)
-
Nice fish, good shootin'.

just get you a skill saw,tin snips and a plank of wood with a good size clamp screwed to it. make two small cuts one at the tail and one at the head, make a long cut from the head all the way to the tail and fela the skin back and cut the meat out like you do back strap and enjoy!
