I went on my second bow pheasant hunt last Saturday. It was sponsored by the Lone Star Bowhunters Assn and called Pheasants and Flu-Flu's. We had 5 hunters (all trad). One guy was on a scatter gun and mopped up after we missed with the arrows. I was able to get one bird out of the air with my recurve. Here is the pic:

My good friend, Gene Bohannan, also got his first out of the air, with a selfbow. Here is a pic of his bird:

Here is a group pic at the end of the hunt.

Pheasant hunting with a bow is a heck of a good time. I can't wait to get to go again.

Great shooting!

Good shooting Bisch. Besides the birds, who are all those other near-do-wells lined up?
-
Congratulations on your pheasant! That's awesome shooting to be able to bring one of them down! I have a hard enough time when using a shotgun. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Sounds just like a woman I know, will point at the stuff she wants to buy, but I have to pick them up myself  Sorry, couldn't resist.

We were hunting near Gainesville, Tx.

All my TX pheasant hunting has been done in the panhandle. I didn't know they had 'em around Gainesville.

There are not any wild ones in this area. These were pen raised birds at a preserve. I would not have a clue where to find wild birds other than up north. I do want To go to Kansas or Nebraska and hunt wild birds one of these days.

Some places in the panhandle no longer have wild bird populations due to the change from gated-pipe irrigation to pivots. There's little natural cover along fencerows now, and they are almost impossible to get out of the CRP land...they just run away...even from the dogs.

That has to be a great sight to see a bird fall out of the sky using a bow. Congrats
-
Way to go!
-
Very nice.... great shooting!

Great shooting. I thought a Texas pheasant would be a lot bigger. :biglaugh:
