Title: First starling.
Post by: Arwin on August 10, 2011, 10:49:00 AM
I can now add starling to my list of Michigan critters taken with a longbow.

This is the equivilent to centering a 50 cent piece at 12yds. I'd like to think it was skill but luck is good too, LOL!   :D

53# St. Joe River longbow, 55/60 chundoo flu flu with 125 grain steel blunt.

Thanks!!

It has tiger maple in the riser and a purpleheart I-beam. Limbs are also tiger maple with Uni-Weft for added stability.

I have a long history with this bow and just got it back after being seperated from it for 2 years. Still shoot it like it never left, LOL!

That tiger maple sure is nice looking; I will try to remember that the next time I order a longbow.

Oh, that reminds me... when I was about 12 or so I used to get paid 10ยข per starling by my next door neighbor. I used a BB gun. Once I used my bow on a bird sitting on his brand new fire engine red Weber grill. I missed the bird and hit the grill and it knocked a golf ball sized black disk of paint off it. That probably would have been enough, but the sound was so nice I shot it three more times.

That was a pretty long couple of weeks if I recall correctly...
