Title: Jersey rays with Phil Muller
Post by: Mitch-In-NJ on September 06, 2011, 02:34:00 PM
If you ever get the chance to go bowfishing for rays with Phil, TAKE IT!

Two weeks ago my nephew and I had that opportunity and took it and had a great time.  Can't tell you where we went (promised Phil) other than that it was in Jersey.

The morning we left the conditions were almost perfect.  Low wind, bluebird sky but the water could have been a bit clearer.

After helping both of us identify what to shoot at (murky water made it a bit tricky) and missing a few rays we finally got the hang of it.

My first ray was a cownose about 40 pounds.  According to Phil that's a pretty good sized ray.

I shot two more, southern rays, and my nephew shot one as well.

Wish I had more pictures, but there is no time to take them when bowfishing rays with Phil.  If you're not shooting your scanning the water and if you're not doing that then you aren't bowfishing with Phil!

Thanks again, Phil.  Great time.  I will go anytime you have an opening.
