Well I know it is not a big one but probably the best harvest to date with Traditional gear for me. I have always seen and read stories of guys spot and stalking and thought it would be the greatest.
I decide to go out Sunday afternoon (22mph winds) and as I walked into the woods to my stand I noticed a deer out in the field already. I decided what the heck lets give this a try. I circled downwind of the doe and tried to walk as slow as I could toward her through the woods. I had a huge advantage with the wind so she could not hear me crunching the leaves. I ended up getting behind a huge oak tree and using it to hide behind as I approached her. I finally made it to the tree and she was still a good ways in the field. I could not make it around the tree or she would see me for sure.
So I decided to step to the side when she put her head down and take the shot since she was broad side. She put her head down and I let her fly. She must have heard the arrow at the last second because she ducked as if she was going to run. When she did that the arrow hit very high on the back. She dropped in her tracks and didn't move from here. I had hit the top of the lungs and bottom of the spine and just finished her right there. I stepped it off at 32 yards. I was so happy with such a long shot and being able to spot and stalk my first ever deer from the ground. I feel like I really accomplished something and cant wait to try it again.
I was using my "WildCat" from Hill country bows 50# with a GT arrow (75g insert and a Simmons tree shark 190g). Also, I had a trad member make me a knife out of a deer antler that I had shot and thought I would add that picture for him. The knife worked awesome too.
Hope everyone else has a great season.
