November 7th was a great morning for field testing broadheads. A Stos, a 4 blade Zwickey Delta and a Simmons Tree Shark were used to harvest 3 bucks for 2 brothers. Accurate shooting on all 3 deer provided very short, easy to follow blood trail. Very thankful for a successful morning.
Some story insight later.

That is awesome! Congrats

The plaid hat in the picture was my father's, who passed away 20 years ago. He introduced us to hunting and everything related to nature. He was like an Aldo Leopold. We recently found the hat and have been wearing it for "good luck". Turns out whom ever wears it the night before a hunt has been gifted good luck. We both wore it the previous day, but my brother with the 2 bucks had it on longer.

That's cool!
Congrats to both of y'all!

I was really happy to harvest my deer, the first picture, after passing up several bucks so far this season. This time of year I usually have several close calls, but "no shot" situations on bucks I would like to shoot.
The buck hung up behind me, changing directions several times. Not bird dogging though. Head up and looking for my previous grunts. Here it comes, get ready. There it goes, no shot, oh well. Here it comes, there it goes. Not going to happen. Over and over again. By the time it stopped in the honeysuckle in front of me at seven yards, a nice 4 inch opening in the brush centered over the deers vitals. Holding my draw for about 5 seconds, pushing my bow arm hard at the target, the string pulled out my fingers and I watch the arrow hit its mark through my bows sight window.
The arrow hit behind the shoulder, angling down into the offside shoulder. The orange fletch/orange wrapped Beman MFX arrow with a new Zwickey Delta 4 blade stuck out 6 inches from behind the shoulder and spiraled tornado-like as the deer ran off tail tucked.
It's the best hour a hunter can have waiting to recover a well hit deer. I stretched it out as long as I could. Stand up. Pee in a bottle. Enjoy the 8am sun on a dead still morning. Hit replay in your mind over and over again as you reflect on the event.
I have shot 3 deer with a Zwickey Delta 4 blade and thus far have all provided "non-crouching", easy to follow blood trails. This deer went about 100 yards.
A big thanks to John McDonald for making me an awesome shooting Big River bamboo longbow 66" 51#.

I like your description after the shot. HOW true. BILL

Now -THAT is what I call a Good Morning!
-
 holy smokes!! those are all great bucks! WOW.
How was the blood trail on the one shot with the STOS?
-
Wow! Congrats
-
The most impressive blood trail was from the Simmons Tree Shark, just like all the post here say. The STOS blood trail was really good and easy to follow. However, over the years I have tracked over a hundred archery hit blood trails, many with similar hits and similar conditions and the Simmons Tree Shark was unlike any blood trail I have ever seen.

My brothers story was much faster paced to harvest his 2 bucks. In the dim morning light he was greeted with the sound of a brief clash of two bucks fighting, only for about 1-2 seconds and then separating. Immediately followed by the familiar sound of chasing and crashing deer plowing through the woods in random directions. Grunting and more chasing followed. A scurrying doe emerged just long enough to lead a pursuing buck out of range. She came back around but the buck lost her and was heading away. He quickly grunted at it and the buck did a U turn and headed at a fast pace toward him on the trail. Now at full draw, the moment the buck was broadside and hit the opening he slid the STOS tipped FMJ 500 through the deer tight to its shoulder. Undaunted, the buck continued to chase the doe so he instinctively nocked a second arrow.
Now the second buck came into view, but bigger than the first. He followed the same path as the first buck, but in the opposite direction. Again, just like the first buck, he used that same level back, out stretched neck, fast paced gait as he searched desperately for the doe. Once again at full draw, just as the buck cleared the thigh sized white pine he zipped the arrow tight to the shoulder. The Simmons Tree Shark exited effortlessly out the opposite side arm pit.
Two bucks , two arrows, two pass throughs 15 seconds apart. All was "dead" quiet now. The delayed reaction of 2 pounds of adrenaline being dumped into your blood stream now started to show. The Brackenbury recurve 64" 47# could not have performed any sweeter.

Great story and some fine trophy's there to be sure! If possible we should all thank our "father figure" that introduced us to the love of the outdoors and particularly archery.
What great memories you two brothers must have hunting together. After this hunt it will be hard to top! Great job.
