Well, as some of you may recall after many many years of trying to get my Brother shooting a stick bow he finally took it up last year. He is left eye dominate and always shot his compound right handed. I talked him into trying to shoot left handed as he was just beginning. Well the hunt was on for a used left handed bow. I posted on here that he wanted to try a trad bow and how excited I was about it and was looking to buy him a left handed bow.
Well as you all know all too well the generosity of our brotherhood here is simply amazing. In short order, Azhunter sent me a pm saying he had been thinking of giving a left handed bow away to someone for a Christmas gift and then saw my post. After a few pm's Mark had the bow boxed up and on the way to Kentucky. Now this isn't some inexpensive starter bow, he wanted my brother to have a beautiful Crow Creek longbow.
As some of you may recall Dan killed his first trad deer last season with a new recurve he bought just a day before Mark made his offer of the Crow Creek. We bought a new A.S. string for the Crow Creek when it arrived and because of that we didn't have time to stretch it out and getting the bow tuned. Well over the summer he settled her in and was shooting Marks gift very well.
Fast forward to today the first day of our Ky bow season finds Bro and me sitting in the two stands a county apart. About 7 pm I get a text from Dan that he just shot a doe. He said it was a 15 yard shot and the Crow Creek spit the arrow out the opposite side of her and he saw her fall about 60 yards out. He still can't get over how quiet a trad bow is and how effective they can be. When I got home he was in the driveway with his prize and grinning from ear to ear. Its very satisfying to me to see him enjoy our game so much and am excited to see how well he progresses.
A huge thanks to Azhunter for his generous gift! Dan really likes the long bow and much prefers it over the recurve he bought.
