Title: My First recurve buck/first buck ever
Post by: scooter135 on November 21, 2014, 01:29:00 PM
I was lucky enough by Gods grace to be able to not only take this beautiful deer but also video the hunt. He is my first ever buck and with a Black Widow PSAX 52# 58" recurve. Hope you all enjoy as much as I enjoyed it!!!

The deer provided me 148lb of meat, he was a 127 5/8" gross 9 point.

Thanks everyone, it was an awesome day for me other than shivering my tail off. He was down wind of me when he got to the corn, he was following a Tinks 69 drag stick into my shooting lane that I drug through at 2pm wen I got out there. I had a feeling he would come in from north of me and with the wind blowing out of the north it was gonna be hard for him to have a reason to come south to me. I found one of his scrapes just 30 yards from my stand and put some Trophy buck on his scrape and some Tinks then drug the stick down the path to me. That with the doe estrus calls, he walked right in. I was very under prepared when I actually heard and saw him. He was only 15 yards away when I saw him. I was sitting down, finger covers on my gloves over my hands, finger tab turned backwards, camera off, and bow on my lap. As soon as his vision was covered by a Holly tree I was able to stand up and get everything square prior to him clearing the holly tree at 10 yards. Then just had to wait for him to walk into my lane. Him moving the leg forward and then looking away from me at a couple does work out even better!!

Congratulations on your first buck and a very nice one at that he's a "Dandy"...I had to keep playing it back and watch it in slow motion to watch just how far he jumped sideways..There looked to be a little ditch there he jumped over but not sure but he was "Getting some air" those feet were solid digging in flight!

Yeah he jumped a heck of a sideways jump, if you look closely it is actually 2 small ditches from a Ford F250, so he really went about 6' sideways

Go's to show just how much power is in a deer's legs ..Now I got to go look at it again..

It isn't my Ford F-250, I know better than to buy a Ford, I got a Chevy Silverado.   ;)

Very well done!

You could see your smile in your eyes BEFORE you pulled the facemask down!

That all went down JUST LIKE IT`S SUPPOSED TO!

Congrats and many happy returns!!!
