Sort of new to turkey hunting, only because I just I've just never gone after them hard/often enough in years past....always focused more on deer and used all my free time in the woods, to get after them! Past couple years though, I have been keeping tabs on those turkeybirds and have been itchy to seal the deal on one with my longbow. Well fortunately for me the stars were aligned at 6:15 this morning and I took my first longbow tom at the apple farm not 2 miles from my house. He came right in to my calls and was fixing to hammer my decoy tom.....he never got the chance thought. The shot was about 12 yards out the front of the blind. He walked about 7 yards and balled up stone dead. I have to admit, I had a small case of the shakes as I stood over the beautiful tom, only then realizing how things had just worked out perfectly for me. The bird weighted 19.5 lbs, had a 9 inch beard and 3/4 spurs. He's certainly a trophy to me.
I used my Zipper Nitro, GT trad 3555 with a 125 ACE epoxied to a 75grn steel adapter.
Just re sized the pics....hope they are o.k. Photobucket stinks!!!

Robert, those arrows are fletched with 4, 4inch shield cut feathers....Chartreuse. Left wing. Ive been using that configuration for a few years now. Does everything I need. I should fletch myself some with a more turkey proof color like brown or black. Also there is an 8 inch reflective wrap that is charteuse with lime green skulls. Designed on the OneStringer site. The nock is actually an Easton Super 3-D nock.

Incredibly beautiful bird. Gotta love how the feathers change color when you move around the bird and the light reflects differently.
