Had an elk hunt in Washington cancelled because of the fires/drought and land closures, a bummer for sure. Im lucky to live in an area here in MD that has Sika, a mini version of the elk. Been hunting them for a long time and never tire of it. They respond to calling very well. I got settled into my stand this morning in the dark and because of the high tide I heard deer moving around in the water almost immediately. I waited till shooting light and one lone mew on my call and I heard deer coming. This doe stepped out of the marsh at 13 yards and I made a good shot, the 1st one I have ever gotten with a 3 blade VPA. The deer didnt go far....It was hot and muggy this AM and I was dripping wet when I finally got this one to the truck but finer eating you'll never have

Nice shot John. I see you have that Titan working for you. I shot a couple doe last year with a 200 grain VPA. They do a nice job.

First year a friend took me to his lease across from Blackwater Refuge a small hind showed up in front of me... like a super charged water spider the way it kept moving around...
Finally got a shot and killed the thing. I could have put it in a game bag of a game coat... but as you say, great eating.
Next year we hunted Blackwater right off and I had a much larger spike come in... got that... long drag on my cart. Buddy shot a nice 5pt...we tracked that for a long, long time thru the swamp and finally got it.
Amazing how good that flesh is on the table!
You're a machine when it comes to getting game, Yohon! Congrats!
