Hey Gang-
Long story short, with the upcoming turkey season, I had short bows on my mind, which eventually led me thinking about horsebows. I was wondering if anyone hunted with 'em. Doesnt seem like too bad of an idea to me...
Thanks Gang-

Matt...the Sheepeater Spirit's original design was derived from turkish style horse bows, and it is one great hunting bow, with all the attributes one looks for and in a short package to boot. Check out Black Mountain Bows for more info...their a sponsor here.

Mark, ssshhhhhhhhh! I got one of those on the way ;-)
Just kidding. I 2nd the recommendation of the Sheepeater. I too have been really intrigued by the horsebows and have been doing a lot of research on those designs as hunting bows.

Don;t see why not. I will use my horsebow to hunt deer, so I can't see any reason why a horsebow would not work for turkey's.
I shoot with the traditional thumbring, as my horsebow has no arrow "shelf" and must be shoot off the knuckle. With the ring, I draw about 30" when I come to my ear lobe.

Thanks Guys.
Right after I posted this, I thought about the Sheepeater and had one of those "lightbulb" moments...

Saturday last my dad (Ed Scott- Owl Bows) shot a blonde Javelina with a 44" Sheephorn bow 45lbs @ 25". I think that qualifies as hunting with a horsebow. :archer:

Treeman,
Any chance we could see pictures of that bow, and javelina?

Tree man,
Your dad makes some interesting bows. I would like to meet him and see some of them up close.

Treeman,
I would like to see more of your Dad's work. I like the short bows, and a sheephorn bow is VERY interesting!
Does your father have a website he posts his work on?
