Post by: Lin Rhea on June 07, 2018, 10:46:30 AM
I recently showed this one at the Blade Show. 1084 steel, stainless, and sheep horn.

Thanks guys. I'm still decompressing from the trip so I might be slow to post for a while. Never was fast anyway.  :biglaugh:

Beautiful knife, Lin. Could you explain your process for flattening the sheep horn. I have enough for several knives, but all of it is badly cupped/curled.

Thanks again guys.

Ron, I buy it already flattened. I think they do it with heat, maybe in hot water but don't quote me. Then clamp it. Of course, I'm sure I am paying for that extra work when I buy. But the stuff is pretty, tough, and easy to work. The only thing that is tricky is dialing the bark in to where the pattern is right as far as the guard goes. I work it from the inside and check the combined thickness and compare that to the guard's final width from the top view.

Very Nice, Sheep horn is one of my favorites and it always looks great on your knives. Looks like a very handy size as well.
