I usually don’t stay in my canoe more than 15 minutes or so on hunts. This will get me across the river and put a barrier between me and the public land contenders. This setup allows ample room at my feet for kills. About as good a use as I can expect from my 11’-9”

I like it! How did you attach the PVC to the canoe?
I've been thinking more & more about getting a small/medium canoe for my outdoor adventures. I'd really like to do it, but so far, I haven't had the cash to spare to buy one. Of course, I probably would if I'd slow down on the archery stuff.... :biglaugh:

I have had a series of tripping canoes 18.5' to 20', but I picked up a kevlar Mad River Explorer, top of the line complete with black rubber baby bumpers, for $500 with a a small hole in it from a dock support. 1 small patch and it was good to go. 41 pounds and 16' 4", the handiest toy that I have. One place we hunt, if the river isn't at flood stage, we paddle up stream to go in and down stream coming out. Not a fan of paddling up stream in the dark, kind of hard to see the upstream side of the eddies in the dark, but it is a blast coming out in the dark. My wife and I were getting mocked by a real numb chuck one time, "Watch this. They think they can paddle upstream. Good god look them go." I will give him credit for one thing, he hung around when he saw our flash light on the river and helped unload my wife's deer out of the canoe at the landing.

I’ve always loved Old Town canoes! I cut my teeth in a Discovery many moons ago when I visited my father in Vanceboro ME. Currently don’t have an OT or any poly canoes. Instead I have a very old Grumman Aircraft Co. aluminum canoe that my grandfather and uncle painted camo some time around 1970 or sooner.
That’s a nice looking rig there!

I have a 'Kay-Noe', which is also made by Old Town Canoe (for Dick's Sporting Goods, I believe...mine was bought used) and it's identical to yours except for color. I ditched the plastic seat, replaced it with a lightweight homemade canoe seat a few feet from the stern (I mostly sit against it and kneel when paddling, but it's handy for longer paddles and moving it back provides better weight distribution), and added a homemade oak center thwart for easy carrying when empty. At 43# it's easy to load/unload and you get used to the tippiness (not a big problem if careful and weight is well-distributed). Picked up a light/cheap canoe dolly from E-Bay for towing it on trails, just grab the bar near the bow and it pulls easily/rolls along pretty well with my gear in it. The short length helps where trails get narrow. The only thing I might still add is some type of bow and paddle holder for easy/safe/quick access when stream drifting.
Definately not a canoe for longer trips or rough water, but a nice little 'honey hole' boat.
