Title: Finely got my new ACS/CX shooting and chronoed
Post by: wtpops on March 28, 2008, 11:39:00 PM
I have been playing with different ways to grip this bow sence i recived it on Jan 3rd. I finely found what i and she likes. I have been trying different arrows, three brands of carbons and easton legacys, may i say i still dont like carbons they are not straight and the spine changes from shaft to shaft. The legacy was to heavy for me. So i settled on the new easton xx78 digital 2312, it is .001, now i am by no means good enough for the differance in straightness between this arrow and the others to make a differance but im my anal little brain it does.

Specs:
ACS/CX
64"
51# @ 30"
Brace @ 7 1/8
shoot 3 under
1/2 a cat wisker tied @ 14" from tips
2 nocks, brass on top and hand tied on bottom

Arrow:
Easton XX78 Digital
2312
32 1/2 from throat of nock to BOP
188 grains up front including incert
3 5" fletch, cock feather in
Total weight, 528 grains
10.35 gpp

Crono results:
(I am not a speed demon, it was there and i was curious)

1st shot,  184
2nd shot,  182
3rd shot,  184

3 arrow average
183 fps

This was not a big scientific test, its the only crono within 150 miles of me and the local shop i was at was busy with wheelie customers and i think the only reason thay set it up for me was they were as curious as i was so i limited my self to 3 shots so they could get back to sales.

I am pleased, it is shooting plenty fast enough for me and is stacking arrows when i do my part.

Seems plenty fast.  If you dropped to 9gpp I imagine you'd be in the high 190's.  I do agree with you about the speed though.  I've never even chronoed a compound, but do look at speed results in the different bow reports I read.  I'm always curious.  Enjoy your new bow...Mike

Nice report Pops! Good numbers too. My son and I are going to Hogs Wild in a week to chase turkeys and hogs.
We both shoot ACS and wish we had 30" draws like you! LOL!!
Looking forward to sharing a hunt with you again soon.
