This bow has been around my whole life. My dad bought it a few months after I was born.
I shot it alot as a kid, until I lost all the arrows. Fast forward to last summer, when I saw a piece on tv about shooting antique bows.
“I have one of those”! and the adventure began.
I researched, got a string, arrows, broadheads, quiver, shot and shot and shot some more.
I made it my goal to take a deer with it while dad was still alive to see it.
After several close encounters, one missed shot I shouldn’t have taken, and another I blew, it came together yesterday.
I’ve hunted this group of does several times, but always seemed to be in the right place at the wrong time.
This time everything fell into place, and I didn’t mess it up.
The cows in the field, which have intervened a time or two in the deer’s favor, actually helped me, cutting off the south side of the field.
So instead they left to the north, bringing this old girl right under my tree.

Thanks for all the kind words.
Dad is a city boy. He bought the bow after The Corps sent him to Ft. Leonard Wood, intending to take a deer with it. He never got a shot.
Within a couple years he was out of the military and working for McDonnell Douglas in Florida.
The bow went in the closet until I discovered it after we had moved to Arkansas in 1971.
I was 11 years old and we lived in the middle of nowhere, so hunting became a big part of my life.
I sent him the picture with the bow and deer.
“Great White Hunter” he said.
