Has any one used a single peace non footed action wood for a take down riser here ?
-
I might have got one in the bow swap. What is non-footed?
-
I should have said non I-beam I never made a take down so I guess my question is ,is it doable ? I don't see why it wouldn't be but figured I would ask plus ,I think it would look cool !

Some old, short, gray haired pap pap guy from Linneus Missouri made that bow for me:)
-
Whats that little doohickey on your bow Roy? You using sights :saywhat:
-
Clem Clem Clem, dear boy..
That an arrow holder...
-
Whats wrong with the nice shelf Kenny cut for you?
-
I guess Kenny didn't send him the instruction manual with that one Flem
-
He made it a right handed bow.
I converted it to amberdextious.
That way I kin shoot dah deer on either side of the tree.
Ya don't get out much do ya?

The spectraply we can get now instead of the old Rutland stuff is not as good in my opinion. I think with a TD mid fifties and up for sure needs a ibeam. I have stabilized it before and it takes a lot of resin but needs to be clamped when curing. Seems the glue gives up at 200 degrees.
-
I may have a piece of the older stuff here, not sure how long it is.
What length ya need, Ritchie?
-
I have a T/D recurve made by Jeffery back in the late 80's with an Actionwood riser without an I beam.
-
There is some new stuff out there that has 3 to 1 layers on the pictures I’m seeing on here, very thin layers.

Well all the bow risers Im going to make are going be exsposed to no more then 50 lb draw as soon as I can catch up with Kenny I will see what he has in stock Im back up in the Galina Il territory's this week end looking at retirement homes & seeing some huge bucks ! Thinking about building one of these on a acre in the woods with a 9 ft ceiling basement with basement level shop doors there really nice and easy to maintain when Im Roy's age

That looks nice Ritchie. Lots of natural light, which will be critical when you reach that ripe age :saywhat:
-
I wont know what to do with out not having to move a bunch of stuff & cars to get to a tool , and walk 3/4 mile to hunt , & only drive 20 mi vs 2k mi :biglaugh:

Looks good, Ritchie. Didn't know Kenny had hardware! I know I'll get sucked into a TD someday especially if you guys keep it up. :)

Oh Roy! I've clicked there many times and always got the right stuff. :)
Right now I'm behind on projects because of weather in my mostly outdoor shop. It snowed six inches in the shop last night.
I'm working on organizing an indoor space to do layups and other glue related activities. I can do the rest in my unheated garage or outside as long as it's not too cold.
