Title: 10-19-20 button buck
Post by: 9 Shocks on October 20, 2020, 10:37:37 AM
I shot my first deer out of my tethrd mantis saddle Monday morning at 845.  Shot was 7 yards, right through the heart (see pics...chunks of heart on the ground.  Shouldve taken a pic of the heart but my hands were bloody.  Sliced the front top corner of the heart with 2 of the 3 blades).  I waited an hour and a half and when I got down to track, I followed blood for about 50 yards out into a standing bean field and glassed it with my binos.  I saw a white belly and a deer laying "dead"...

So I go walking over to the deer and when I get about 2 feet away it gets up and bulldozes the ground for about 20 yards before running into a tree and then kicking a few times and died.  I have never had that happen on a lethal shot and an hour and a half after the shot in 15  years of hunting with a bow!!!  Scared the crap out of me and made me almost do a back flip when it got up and bolted!  CRAZY STUFF!

Shot it with my primal tech 58" longbow.  51@28 drawn to 26.5.  Shooting gold tip trad .600's with 225 up front.  175gr VPA 3 blade went through the near shoulder and exited infront of the offside leg.

Thanks for reading...

Kevin

Congrats. I'm surprised he lived as long as he did after the shot.

Yep! That would have freaked me out too...even without a heavy set of headgear!
I'm getting into the saddle thing this year too!
