Are there spots for hammock camping at Twin Oaks during the Classic?
-
I have seen it done.
-
The Tennessee Classic:
Exceedingly Special and Most Enjoyable A communal gathering of those spread far and near that remain firmly dedicated to one another in a bond of friendship and camaraderie and share the treasured traditional passion. An atmosphere of joy engulfs Twin Oaks and infuses all those who wish to absorb its exhilarating aroma. The gift of friends, reconnecting with old friends and making genuine new friends is a value beyond measure.
The abundant treasures that I have uncovered there far exceed my ability to carry them home. Hopefully, I share most of the riches with those around me.
-
SlowBowKing, Twin Oaks is a 400ac woodland farm with plenty of trees to hang a hammock.
-
Lots of hammock spots and we will even trim up a spot if need be but there are a number of good hammock spots already trimmed up down by the creek on the up hill side and are pretty well drained even if it rains ;) not to worry as we usually have plenty of wood chips or straw if happens to get wet under your rig.

Grant been awhile since i seen ya here.
Shawn~
-
Pat and Jack, thanks for the responses. I’m hoping to come to the March shoot, and if I do I’ll check out the spots.
-
Shawn, I stop by to read any thing that Scott has been pontificating about ;)

Looks lonely.
-
That’s twice. It is a vertical in my files, it gets knocked on its side when I post it. Bedtime. It’ll take me an hour and a half to find out how to fix it. Meanwhile, eat a taco and look at it while your head is heeled over anyway.
Tuesday will be heavy, so I’ll tackle it Wednesday.
But go to the Classic. Not something to miss before we go.
-
Ohhhh, NOW it behaves. I quit. :biglaugh:
-
It was magic...
-
Roy, you are magical! :notworthy:
You will see quite few selfbows hanging around at the Classic...

Looks lonely.
That it does but the saw dust can be tracked to at least one selfbow builder hiding from the camera, they are always there somewhere just like "termites" ;)

Now that’s impressive. Never tried knapping, but I’d say my results would look like something that needed to be flushed down said toilet! :biglaugh:

Am quite unable to wait for the Classic.
I will be there this Saturday.
-
Seriously thinking of driving out with my 13 yr old boy. Hope someone would be willing to help me splice a set of billets and finish tillering an Osage recurve I started.
-
TradBowyer, I'm sure you will be able to find someone in bow shop to help you out. But, on Friday through Sunday, the official days of the Classic, the bow shop is open to Selfbow Challenge participants so it will have to be either before the Classic starts(folks will be there a week before) or after 6pm in the evening. Selfbow Challenge participants take priority. Your 14 year old son, and yourself, ought to sign up for the Selfbow Challenge and make a bow with the help of some of the best self bowyers in the country.

Pat did I see that you said you won't be at the Classic this year, if that's so we are sure going to miss you.
Kurt
-
Yeah, Kurt. I won't be there this year. I just don't feel comfortable traveling yet. Last year(no Classic) and this year are the first times missing in about 15 years. Believe me, I'll be missing everyone also. I did, however send my raffle table offering to Pappy last week so I will still be there in spirit. I'll have to depend on everyone that does go to post lots of pics so I can at least enjoy it through the pics.

Kurt
-
Kurt, unfortunately I won't be making it this year. Both Roy from PA and I did send Pappy raffle table offerings to help support Twin Oaks and the Tenn. Classic. Word has it that tents are already starting to pop up.
Take plenty of pics and I'll start another thread for "Tennessee Classic pictures".

Sure looking forward to getting together this year. Stanley and I are packing the camper already. There are several Olde Fartes planning to make the shoot.
-
Pappy said there are tents already popping up.
-
Me and my boy are heading down from PA early Wednesday morning. First time for us and he's excited about building his first self bow.
-
Well, Tim, you and your son are heading to the right place. Tell Pappy hey for me.

We went down today and dropped off a few things at our site, and will be back to stay soon!
Shot through the practice course while there. It was a beautiful afternoon to be out in nature! On #15, my buddy had a really loud hit on the elk. I though he had hit a drainage tube or some kind of pin that holds the sections together. When he pulled out his arrow, we found this...
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Yep, he shot his carbon into a glue on field point that had pulled off in the target. What are the odds?!
-
Ye Olde Doe, always good to see the Walkers, tell Stanley I said Hi. Hope Chris and his wife will be able to make it also.

Never a dull moment at Twin Oaks. Is that considered a Robin Hood?

Three more days....My personally favorite event....will be attending all three days.
Am hopeful to see many of the Trad Gang family in attendance.
-
Approximately two hundred have already made it to Twin Oaks.
-
Sounds like it's gonna be a blow out. Good thing they have 400acs there.
-
I’m going to make the drive up Thursday but won’t make it there till Friday morning. Hope to meet everyone while there.

Looks like the weather is going to clear by Friday morning and we should have some beautiful weather!
My favorite weekend of the year is almost here.
-
Cool but it won't be the same event without rain and mud:)
-
Should be plenty of mud from the rain today and tomorrow. My goal for this year’s shoot is no Xs and to stay upright...last time out I accomplished neither! :biglaugh:
-
Guys, please post pics for us folks that won't be attending.
-
(https://i.imgur.com/18YkDEo.jpg)
-
I’ve never attended this shoot before. I wanted to come early and camp this year, but due to family obligations (aka babysitting) and a local shoot on Sunday, I will only be able to drive down on Saturday. I hope to meet some other TradGang members while I’m there. See ya Saturday.
-
This is an update from Shawn(Snag)...
"Update form the Tennessee Classic Had about 20-25 selfbow challenge folks signed up and working already. Weather been really nice, couple showers Wed. Today Thursday we have a big band of storms going to come thru at 0700 or so. Maybe showers on Sunday but Friday and Sat will be high 70's. I would say Tues -Wed had the biggest crowd and campers I have ever seen. Bottom was full on left side and right side was getting 50% by Wed at 1400hrs."
-
The Tenn. Classic officially starts tomorrow. Good shooting everyone. :campfire: :archer: :archer2:
-
It’s here!
Gonna be another beautiful day at Twin Oaks. Smag was right about the crowd...lots and lots of folks here already.
-
From Pappy this morning..."Well it on and what a crowd already, rain is gone and weather is beautiful. Life is good. Pappy"
-

-
I wish I could get some sleep. Why do people bring loud music and bright lights to such a beautiful place? Seven species of owls could be having a hooting contest and nobody would notice. :dunno:

Heading out for Day 3.
The course and setup are a level well beyond any of the many wonderful courses of which I have had the pleasure to experience in the past.
The Spring Classic has easily been my preferred event of choice. The Twin Oaks Team may have just set a surreal level of experience beyond imagination.

This was the first shoot I ever attended. Great bunch of folks. Thanks to everyone who put this together!
-
What an amazing event! Thanks to Scott (“Friend” on TradGang) for generously inviting me to stay with him during the event. I was also honored to be among the first to experience his new backyard 3D range, which is like a mini-Disneyland for traditional archers. This was my first time to visit Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, but the Good Lord willing, it won't be my last. There sure are a lot of friendly people in that part of the country!
-
Dave it was great to meet you and you come back anytime next time plan to camp, your welcome in my camp anytime .

My brother and I had a great time as usual, a little rain thursday morning and then the rest of the weekend was Great. The target setup's were over the top, Pappy and the Twin Oaks members sure know how to make a fun shoot. My brother invited a friend and his family and I believe they are now Hooked also. Got to see SO many friends it was just a Good time, Oh and the food was real good to. Can't wait to get to the next get together for another good time.
