Title: Big 6!
Post by: huntsfairchase on January 20, 2022, 07:18:20 PM
I don’t think I ever shared this on Tradgang. This was a buck I hunted from 2010-2013 and this is the only shed I found from him. I did have a shot at him in November 2013. Just inside 20 yds but he was on alert as he had smelled my tracks (he wasn’t on a game trail). He looked back over his shoulder and I took the shot. His belly hit the ground and the arrow slid over his back! Neighbor had trail camera pics and the buck was all of 20” inside, and he was huge bodied. 23 4/8” beam and 12” G2. With a 20” spread and assuming no deductions he’d have scored 135 4/8” as a 6! He was a matching 3 on other side. Biggest 6 I’ve laid eyes on.

It’s always the ones that got away that are etched in our memories like that, isn’t it? He was an exceptionally pretty whitetail too. His bib was extremely bright and he was just big in every respect.

Sweet looking six.  Saw one like that once, 17-18" inside but I don't recall having that long a main beam, G2 was about 10".

I love a big 6! Never killed one but had pics of one for a few years on the public near my home. He never ever was seen in daylight. I had trailcams on that place from north to south. Had pics of him but never in daylight. I guess he died of old age  :dunno:

My buddy got a big 6 on the last evening of the season on our lease several years back. It had about a 20” spread and scored mid 120’s, if I remember correctly. He was an awesome buck.

I like em all! Mine from Nov. 13, 2021. Maybe the six pointers are the little spike bucks grown up? [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I killed one on our property years ago that scored around 110". He was 6 yrs old. I first saw him as a yearling. Very secretive buck. I would only see him once or twice during the rut. The year before I got him he was barely a 3x4. The morning of, he was coming down a main trail and at junction a 160" 5x5 showed up to challenge him. He just laid his ears back and the other buck turned and took off. Then he made the mistake of turning down the trail I was setting on.

Guys, those are some fantastic 6’s!

We had some tremendous bucks around this 80 that I used to lease, and that 6 was as dominant as any we ever saw. When he would work the edges of the back soil bank field, he just looked like he owned the place!

Sounds like that’s something these big guys had in common.

Man, never knew there were so many big 6s out there.  I have only seen one similar when I was photographing in Cades Cove in the Smokies.

There's been a few threads here over the years about big 3x3's. Cool looking critters. I think they may have an advantage in a fight w getting their antlers in and around other sized racks. I watched a 3 yr old tall 3x3 back off and take a doe away from a Booner this past fall.

Nathan, there was a giant 3x3 killed in your state a number of years ago. Mid 150's.

Technically not a 3x3 but what a slob. Saw this on the net a few weeks back.

I don’t know how this pic will come out. It’s from a little video I took of a young buck this fall right under my tree. He’s a 6 point, no brow tines. I let him walk. Hopefully I’ll see him again in a couple years. He’s only 2 1/2 now.
