I’m starting to layout my first big rasp knife. This was a 2-1/4” x 12” Horseshoe rasp. I built a fire and got a bed of coals going. Threw a few rasps In overnight to take temper out. Now I’m laying out and filing, grinding. 6” Elk a main beam base for handle and blade is 11-3/4” , got aways to go yet, any tips. Critics , fire away.

Day 2 and have guard and handle fitted. A few more days of sanding and file work on guard and blade sanding thru the grits.
-
Day #3 on the Bowie, have decorative filings done on the guard and spine of blade. A few more days of final touches on the edge and sheath making.

Nice job on the Bowie. I like that handle and file work.

Cool knife!

Day 4 on the Bowie, I have blade heat treated and sheath done. Waiting on some additions to the sheath and knife. Going to polish blade to 1000 grit while I wait.
It shaved hair and cuts paper easily. Not bad for a big ole knife. !!
