Title: G Fred Asbell passing.
Post by: garyschuler on January 08, 2023, 09:42:53 PM
G Fred Asbell has passed over the bridge. He is well known by Traditional Archers.
He started Bighorn Bows and was a shooting clinic instructor with Black Black Widow Bows. He was an outdoor writer and knife maker. A great Ambassador of our sport. Sympathies to the Family and R.I.P Mr Asbell.

I met Fred and Teresa at the NC State Championships a few years back. It was when he first started selling the plaid wool pullovers. I knew Fred was going to be there so I brought my copy of "Instinctive Shooting" for him to sign. When I approached their booth Fred was talking to someone else and Teresa asked if she could help. I handed her my copy of Fred's book and she looked at me and said..."boy, that's and old one". I had bought the book in 1988.
BTW...Fred's wool pullovers cost $35 then and I can kick myself for mot buying one then.

I met Fred at the Baltimore classic about 10 years ago. The guy definitely had the gift of gab. It was kinda fun watching him and a rather large group of archers shooting the 3D trails in front of us.

RIP  Fred,  you left a mark on archery for sure.     Kirk
